are you changing the wireless settings of your router wirelessly? If yes just make sure after you enabled the wireless security, you will just reconnect to your own wireless network, so that you can go online again.
its advisable that you change the wireless settings using the wired pc.
anyways, what is your current situation now?
do you still have wireless connection or none at all?
how many computers do you have on your network?
what is the exact model number of your router?
what is the Windows Version of your computer?
if your still having problem, please provide the answers to the questions I've posted. Thankshi hmling_67,

Use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer directly to the router.
Access the web-server "inside" the router.
Login to the router, with the current ID/password.
View the wireless settings:
* SSID
* encryption-level ('WPA' or better, please)
* network password
be sure you detected the wrt..then the SSID and Security Encryption should be matched..the SSID will definitely detected so the Password should be entered.

Well I'm no expert on routers, but I've never heard of Netopia. If you can, try Linksys routers, they're so easy to use and they have the best customer service. I have a Linksys WRT-54GL Wireless Router linked up to a Wireless-G PCI adapter. I wont lie to you, Linksys is very easy to use, and you can see any activity on your network straight from your computer. I got my setup for less than $50.00, but I don't know if they got cheaper or not. They're blazing fast too, they can transfer data up to 54Mbps or higher, I've never used anything quite as simple as a Linksys router, I did have and old Aris router, but it was too difficult to use, so that's when I bought the Linksys. You won't be disappointed!
