Do you have a photo editor? If so, which software package do you have? If not, would you be willing to install a particular open source image manipulation package that I can give step-by-step instructions for?

Find photo software that has advanced functions and open and save the picture which will give you options to control the resolution of images.

How do I change resolution for pictures on camera? What should the resolution be set at?

Press the Menu/OK button. Repeatedly touch the down-arrow function area until you see the "Image Size" option. Touch the MP icon area to enter the image size menu. Touch the left-arrow function area to select the desired image size. Press the Menu/OK button to confirm, save, and exit.

What do you want the resolution set at? What do you want to do with the pictures? If all you want to do with them is to send them by email or to put them on the web, the VGA setting (640x480) is probably enough. If you don't ever print pictures larger than 4x6 inches, the 3M setting (2048x1536) is probably adequate. If you're going to want larger prints, the 8M setting (3264x2448) will let you make 8x10 prints and even larger.

How do you change the resolution on our camera? It is over 500 and I would like it to be a bit smaller. At the moment I can only send 4 photos at a time.

You can set the resolution in the camera by selecting the menu , settings and selecting the submenus to get the required resolution.
Now it is better to take teh photos with the normal or high resolution as the image will be better, to send the photos by email you can select from photo manager to reduce size so that it can be send easily by phone or PC.

E mailed pictures arrive too large

reduce resolution on camera itself or choose a smaller resolution when sending pics via Email. Not all Email programs support this. You can also resize your pics before sending by using "XP powertoys" free from microsoft and includes a resizing tool. 640X480 is plenty big for Email.

Settings for a630 (resolution or pixels)

You can download the manuals here. To get the smallest size image files for emailing, set the compression to Normal, and the image size to Small (see pages 27 through 29 of the Advanced Manual).

How do I make an image file smaller so I can send it by e-mail?

To make an image file smaller for e-mail transmission, change the image file size in "Exif Viewer" or "FinePixViewer". Changing the size of an image file 1. Start up the Viewer and select the folder containing the image you wish to send. 2. Double-click the thumbnail for the image file you want to resize to open the image in its own full-size window. 3. Select "Image size" in the "Image" menu. 4. Set "%" as the "Unit" used for file size display. Then enter a value lower than 100 as the "Width" or "Height" and click the [OK] button. 5. Select "Save as" in the "File" menu to save the image. (You can also reduce the image file size by lowering the quality in "Save as type".)
