Question about Sony KDF-E55A20 55 in. LCD Television
Purchased the TV from Circuit City 9/5/2005. Have not had any problems until last week. We purchased the extended warranty, symptoms occurred on 9/16/08. Out of Warranty...Imagine that! No help from Sony or Circuit City. Sony does not service our area, and Circuit City only has stereo techs available in stores...NO TV Techs!
I read reviews online as to how to solve the problem. I ordered a new lamp...that seemed to be the solution. While waiting for it to arrive, I read where someone had changed their TV to reduced power or power save mode. This helped and we were able to watch the TV without such symptoms occurring. Which is odd...why not use power save mode all the time?
Since the bulb came in yesterday, we went ahead and replaced it last night...switched back to standard power...and symptoms resumed. We again, switched back to power save mode (but it did go out and came back on a few times but far less than when in standard mode)
Therefore, we are still having the same problem after a new bulb...So..any suggestions now?

You really need a tech to check the error codes recorded in the TV to be sure. You could have a bad lamp driver, but I would want to see if any error codes were recorded
