Ice build up on bottom of freezer

I have a build up of ice on the bottom of the freezer compartment. It takes about 3 days to build up to the point of water leaking from the freezer compartment. No indication of water leaking from any hoses. Does appear to be a slight build up of ice at the lower section where there is a slotted opening.

My ice maker leaks water. Build up at the bottom of the freezer. I can see water trails down the back of the freezer.

Is the water inlet valve the culprit?

Remove back panel inside freezer. you will see drain tray at bottom with a drain hole in the middle - this is blocked usually with ice. melt off with a hairdryer and follow up with hot water till water flows away freely

Test the flow of the drain before replacing back panel. Mine was so clogged that I had to pull the drain tube (underneath & behind the fan motor) and clean out with a long blade screw driver.

Water is puddeling under the left side and front of the fridge. its dry and dusty underneath. water line for ice maker has been disconnected for years. cant figure where the water is coming from

You have a side by side or a undermounted freezer? I am having the same problem with mine. Take a look into the bottom of the freezer, there is probably ice building up on the bottom of it under the bottom self or basket. It seems if the refrigerator door is opened frequently and it is moderately or very humid in your home the water vapour condences inside the freezer. There is probably a condensation tray somewhere that is overflowing into the freezer compartment. Once the ice build up on the bottom gets to a certain point the water then starts to run out the front of the fridge onto the floor. Remove the ice from the bottom of the fridge and empty the condensation tray. You may have to continually do this during humid periods. For me that is about 6 months of the year every 3 to 4 days. It's a pain but what are you going to do.

Neverending ice cystals buildup in freezer

Hi Rachel,

Opened 3-10 times per day, per week, per month?

There is only one possible source of these ice crystals -- moisture precipitating from the air (condensate) -- this air is coming from outside the freezer. It's either getting in when the freezer is opened or coming in around the gasket.

You might try a very thin coat of vaseline on the gasket to get a better seal.

Hidden Ice build-up inside plastic bottom cover of freezer

Generally, icing is the result of too much water vapor inside the unit, blockage of the circulation channels and too much packing in of the box.  The water vapor is generally caused by: uncapped items in the fridge, opening the door too often, humid conditions, bad door seals.  There is of course, there is a possibility that the defrost cycle on the unit is not working.  About once a day, depending on the brand, you should notice that the fans and compressor don't run and you should hear a bit of creaking, sloshing or other strange noises as the ice melts.  If this is not happening, your defrost timer or the coil it heats could be bad.

Ice at the bottom of the freezer

bottom of rezzer compartment is supposed to be frozen( depending on timeof cycle) i wouldnt point to a defrost problem unitil the ice build up is hindering refigeration, its quite possible that thte defrost drain has just frozen itself over, and needs to be cleared to allow defrost water to go into the drip pan under unit

Water leaking onto floor

unplug it again , sounds like your drain line has frozen, instaead of defrost water going down the tube and under refrig in drain pan, becuse tube is frozen its draining into freezer compartment and eventually spilling out through front of unit. totally defrost unit and behind back wall of freezer youll see a metal trough designed to catch water, in the center (under the ice is gonna be the drain hole, pour boiling water down until it runs freely

Drain plugged in freezer

First of all, is it ice or frost? If it is ice, I would say you have a leaky water valve to icemaker, running down evap. coils. Replace water valve. If you have frost-find out why it is not defrosting(defrost heater, defrost thermostat, or defrost timer.
