How to secure front loading drum for moving????

I need to move a GE WSSH300-GOWW up a flight of stairs, 40 miles down the interstate, and then down a flight of stairs. What do I need to do to secure the drum. The manual says to use the shipping hardware, but the owner did not save it. Are these standard bolts?

Thank you very much. Should I transport the unit on its back, or in the upright position?

Ftf530es knocks during spin cycle

Good Afternoon Amy,

I understand that your Frigidaire washer, model# FTF530ES, knocks during the spin cycle. I also see that the drum moves from front to back and not up and down. I suggest making sure that your washer is level from front to back, side to side, and from corner to corner. If after leveling you washer, the drum is still moving from front to back, I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose your washer and determine why the drum is moving from front to back. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-
WP

When we moved our washing machine i didnt puthe bolts in back in it now makes a small noise while spining

Possible that drum had moved off the aligment and so it had changed the suspension angle. While the machine is moved the drum must be locked to prevnet this from happening . In this case only a closer examination will confirm the change of the suspension pillars and tinkering must be done to get this to the set postion so as to prevent it from hitting the sides while in the spin or dry cycle..

Washer is making a rapping noise on all cycles

The drum may have become damaged if it was moved without securing the drum.
Your washer probably came with drum "bolts" to hold it securely while moving it.

It seems that the drum is spinning off its axis

When a front load washer does not spin properly, the problem can be caused by failed axle that connects the pulley to the wash drum, or failed shock or (possibly) broken suspension springs.
Remove washer top, inspect the two or four springs holding the washer drum up. The whole drum should be able to "bounce" a little, when you press down on it.
Remove the lower front panel and with a flashlight, inspect the two shock absorbers. Both should attach up to the wash drum, but it is common for them to break, especially if the front load washer has been moved from one house to another without re-installing the lower brackets and the long bolts that secure the drum during the move.
If the springs and shocks are not damaged, with the top removed look down into the rear area. You will see a large pulley with a belt on it. If you see brown/black grease marks all over or obvious problem when you try to turn the pulley, you have found the major problem.
Please get back to me with what you find. OK?

I have a LG WM0532HW. What are the drum bolt sizes thr.& length

Hello Jeff,

Unfortunately, these are specially made bolts that have threads only on the first section of the bolt, so they can secure the wash drum and not interfere with anything else. You also need the special sleeves for the bolts. I would not try to use standard bolts from a hardware store, as they could damage the wash drum if you overtightened them or they were too long. LG, and most washer manufacturers, don't publish the size, thread count and length of their transport (shipping) bolts, hence the reason they advise to keep them for future use.

So if you're only moving the washer down a set of stairs, you should be fine if you take it easy and either hand carry it with two (2) people, or use an appliance truck to move it down the stairs.

If, however, you're looking to move the washer any distance via truck, etc., you'll want the shipping transport bolts and sleeves to keep the drum and suspension system from getting damaged.

You're best bet is to get in touch with LG customer support and obtain a set of the transport bolts. You can reach them by callling them from 8AM to 8 PM toll free at 1-877 714-7486 and follow the prompts to reach customer support.

Here's a link to the owner's manual for your washer, just in case you've misplaced yours.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Lost or not retained shipping bolts

Just looked at mine (we had to order them before the military would move ours). They are two different sizes, have a long plastic washer (lengthwise), and are - believe it or not - like a lag bolt on the end! A hybrid mess meant to force us to order them, if you ask me. Not sure you should try rigging it, best if you order them, you'll see what I mean when you get them. Sorry, we were in the same boat too. Wish I never bought this LG, but that's for another post.

Need to secure for moving

You should have some bolts that came with the machine. They are fitted into the rear casing and screw into the drum to hold it steady. If you dont have the bolts then you can try packing some towels around the outside of the drum ( from underneath ) to hold it steady.

GE WSSH300 stops after wash and need to hit start again to finish

Be sure to rule out one of the simplest things first---be sure the button that gets depressed when you close the lid is still functioning (or even THERE) Sometimes, if you have had a severly offset load, this switch can become damaged. Some washers will not continue to advance if it " thinks" the door is opened.

order the locking pins that are inserted into the back to keep the drum set. Call the store you bought it from or a local mover to purchase.
