Same problem as most. The set has sound. Power indicator turns on then blinks 5 times and so on. I read your fix about the capacitors, I can't find a wiring schematic to locate these capacitors.
I'm o.k. with wiring but I'm wondering how hard this will be. I'm not getting any resistance reading from the bulb either. I was told the last time the tv was fixed; they replaced the bulb and it worked for about two days then quit. Thats is the whole reason I want to look into checking the capacitors.
You can get the ATC336 DLP Power board repair kit, that often repairs the 5 blink error code. The kit conbtains the replacement capacitors and the info on which board and capacitors that need replacement and also includes the service manual for the TV on CD. You can get the repair kit at the following link its under the repair kit category

5 Times it is a problem with the lamp.
Either the lamp is gone, or the small pwer board powering the lamp is defective.
Try first unplugging the powere cable for one hour, this will drain power off tv and reset internal eprom, if thre is no real problem, this sometimes can fix the error.
If that does not work, a technician must test the lamp and the high voltage board powering the lamp and eventually replace it.
If you need to call a technician, validate the guaranty or get a warranty extension, you can ring the phone number printed on the owner manual.
If you need parts you can buy parts here.
Regarding the capacitors, there are over one thousand capacitors on your TV set, easier to test are the ones on the power board, where you get 5 or 7 (depending on outlet voltage) capacitors.
When they blow, the problem is with the power board.
In your case the problem is with the lamp, or with the small power board sometimes called ballast on DLPs, or in sporadic occasions with the light engine.
If it is the light engine the repair will cost over $1000, but this does not happen very often (see here).
A good solution can be contacting RCA customer support, and asking if you can buy a guaranty extension, this will cover all repairs. You find the phone number on the user manual, or call the retailer, or you can tell me your location so that I can find the contact in your area.

I would really like to be able to fix this problem myself. The TV was a gift to me and I can not buy an extended warranty. And I am really interested in finding wiring schematics for this TV.
THANK YOU!!!! That is EXACTLY what I wanted!! Great advice!
