Do you have Onboard soundchip? or pci slot sound card?

if you have onboard soundchip..just try to install your motherboard cd installer, the sound driver is included in it. if you lost the cd,try to download it from its brand website.

if you have pci slot sound card. try to find from the card its name, brand and model and try to find and download the driver from the net.

hope you'll not lost... ;-)

Missing operating system comment is on screen.

Either your hard drive has failed, master boot record has become corrupt or you've recently installed a new hard drive that still needs to have an operating system installed on it. If the computer has recovery disks, I would suggest using those to reinstall the operating system, as it saves a great deal of time with having to find the drivers for your system. Otherwise, you'll have to reinstall an operating system, then all of your drivers for the devices attached to your system.

It is running very VERY VERY slow. I thought reinstalling windows xp and drivers may solve problem but did not. I booted the system from C drive with windows xp pro in he system. It formats the hard drive,...

You may want to check the hard drive - sounds like it may be starting to fail. When it reaches the point of not continuing does it start to click? If you hear clicking then the drive is having issues and its time for a new one.

Bad dell hard drive

Hi there,
as long as you have the windows COA code on the back of the computer (certificate of Authenticity) you can just find a good copy of XP Pro, and install it on your machine. When done, you can run the resorce CD and install the drivers.

If you do not have the Operating System disk, you have to find another disk, or contact Dell to get a new one sent to you.

The key is that you have the code on the back of the computer (or top, or side, or wherever.)

Good luck!

Reinstalling XP with a new HDD?

Make a clean installation of XP with prior formating the Hard Disk Partition (where you are goint to install it)

For the driver issue, I am not sure if you have all drivers for your MOBO. (included in MoBo CD) and the driver for LAN Card, VGA or other devices drivers.

Let me know in bit more detail of other drivers which you have and have not? Try surfing the website to locate the exact drivers and most of driver you will get with optimum cost.
Such as download.com or FileHippo.com

hi harold what operating system do you have?

it seems that a reinstall is probably the best , hope you have your data on a seperate partition or hard disk, and recent backups?

Pci driver problems after I installed a new hard drive.

Changing the hard drive would definately cause the problem you describe, I would need to use the dell restore disk to reinstall the operating system. Also you will need to use the dell application and driver disk to reinstall all the drivers and applications. BPCS
