My daughter's brand new easy share camera will not turn on. When she plugged it in to recharge it, it got very hot but did not turn on. Nor when we changed the batteries. What can we do and where can we send it for repair? Thanks

Hi,

Be sure that your battery is fully charged (three to four hours the first time).

If it uses a rechargeable Lithium battery, make sure it is fully charged.

If it uses AA batteries, DO NOT use ordinary alkaline batteries. This includes heavy duty, extra heavy duty, Max etc.Instead, make sure you are either using high capacity rechargeable AA NiMH (2500-2700mAh) batteries or non rechargeable AA Lithium (something like Energizer e2).

If it still will not turn on, then contact Kodak and have them troubleshoot your problem with you.

Hi,
If the Camera is new one and if it is within warranty period then you can exchange it. Or else go through the manual that if it has got any security lock so that you can unlock it. If you need any trouble shooting methods please click on the below link or copy the URL and paste it in your web browser. And enter the model number.

Hi,

Based on your post/description:

  • will not turn on - most likely a power issue. Pls check: the polarity of the battery, the camera's terminals that contacts with the battery (clean/bend/stretch slightly);
  • recharge got very hot - heating up is normal but not excessively so, again polarity;
  • What can we do - suggest not repair but replaced at point of purchase;
  • send it for repair - depending on your location, pls check here.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

My kodak easy share m550 cannot turn on unless connected to charger before it can turn on,please need help

There is only one thing that comes to mind: your rechargeable batteries are weak and don't reach the necessary operating voltage, or they could be the wrong type.

You need the Li-Ion type of rechargeables.

Battery life of kodak easy share is 2 pictures ... if that

Please check what type of batteries are these.
Z1085 will only work with LITHIUM AA's, Lithium CRV3 (you have to make sure it's not Ni-mh crv3) and a rechargeable KLIC 8000 Lithium-ion battery pack (the blue one). It will not work with any other type of rechargeable battery but KLIC 8000. If you're trying to use ni-mh rechargeables, it will really not work.

try taking out the batteries, and clean the connectors that the batteries touch, and the ends of the batteries (if recharagable). Sometimes a dirty connector can make the batteries seem that they are dead even if they are rechargable. If the camera works with new disposable batteries but not with the rechargable ones, then you may need to purchase some new rechargable ones.

Kodak easy share model Z812 IS. The battery is running out of charge quickly. You have to constantly change batteries.

check if the battery got hot means there is a shortage, if not Better use rechargeable battery and limit the usage of the camera, prolonged opens lessen the capacity of the batteries.

Camera won't turn on.

Mine had the same problem.  I consulted http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/ and it said to use rechargeable batteries only.  The entry claimed that alkaline batteries, even if they're brand new, don't have sufficient power for more than a few pictures and may not even be powerful enough to turn the camera on.  I was dubious, but I tried putting in a pair of fully charged rechargeables and, by Gum, the camera was suddenly working again.  So before junking the camera, try investing 20 bucks in a battery charger and a pair of AA rechargeables and see if that fixes it.

Battery life

Remove battery for a minute and insert it again.

There is a Battery Type setting in the Menu of your camera.

Do the following:
- Press Menu/ Ok button
- Go to Set Up 2
- Scroll down to Battery Type

Two options under Battery Type:
- Alkaline- if you are using non- rechargeable battery
- NiMH- if you are using rechargeable battery

S40 Battery problem

Alkaline batteries are not capable of outputting the level of power required for your camera to operate. Your daughter's camera may have lower requirements and be able to function properly using alkaline batteries. Your standard alkaline battery outputs about 700 milliamps of power when they are brand new. A rechargeable NiMH battery can range from 1200 to 2700 or even 3200 milliamps max power output depending on the quality of the battery. Most compact digital cameras that accept AA style batteries are designed for these high-output rechargeables and will not function for very long even on fresh Alkaline batteries.
