Help, no prompt but green light

Hi there, ive got a strange problem!
if i plug in my monitor i dont get any prompt, dont even the acer logo or the OSD.
sometimes it worked to plug in and out the power cable numerous times, but this isnt working anymore!

the status light is always green even if the vga-cable is not plugged in.

in the short time period i was able to fix the monitor by replugging the cables it sometimes happend that the picture is flickering in a very high frequency, but only if i changed the resolution or the refreshing rate by, for example, entering odr exiting a computer game.

i already opened it to check the circuit board for visible damages, but i couldnt find anything

please help me!

btw, i´m now running over dvi and tryed another vga monitor on the grafik card, so actually its not the grafikcards fault xD

i´m looking forward to hear from you folks =)
thanks =)
regards kevlar

My whole screen has a blueish green tint

  • Make sure the plugs are hard into the sockets, one loose pin can cause strange colour problems.
  • A faulty signal cable between PC and monitor can also cause colour problems, try a different cable if possible
  • Try it on a different computer to find out whether the computer or the monitor is the problem. If it's the monitor and none of the above works, it will need service or replacement. If it's the computer, your video card is likely to be the problem.

Acer AL2216W's green light goes off completely when the computer is turned on. When I turn on the computer and monitor, there is green light on on/off button while an irritating Acer logo is showing up....

You may have failure in the power supply due to bad caps, bad inverter circuits such as shorted transistors, transformers, bad lamps. You need to open it up and make some measurement, see example of failed ACER monitors: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further.

Hi...there,
It's turns blue to power safe mode (yellow) it's prevent futher damaged to your monitor. It's seems you got a busted backlight inverter. Need to replaced a new one...Since you only got it for a few months, send it back to Acer for a replacement of a new backlight inverter... Have a nice day!

Acer LCD Monitor only displays "acer" logo

You are correct, it could be a power surge that has caused it.

Try this..
Unplug the monitor from the wall.
Remove all the video connections at the monitor end.
Wait 10 minutes then plug the monitor back into the wall (do not connect the video leads)

Turn it on and see if it goes past the ACER logo now. If so, replace the video cables and try the computer.
If not, then one of these will apply and a tech will be required..
  1. The internal bios has been corrupted.
  2. The power supply inside the monitor may have issues preventing the video board from starting correctly. This could be as simple as a few failing capacitors.
Number 2 is the most likely cause with an Acer monitor though. Any local tech will be able to correct it fairly cheaply, but phone around for quotes..they can vary a lot.

Acer AL1716 Power problem?

i have experienced the same problem (power cycles on and off and on and off... nothing but Acer logo and black screen) on 2 Acer model 1706 A version 1706 Ab monitors both built in July 2006. Before the customer reported the 2nd monitor with the same problem, i sent the 1st one into Acer for warranty service (after testing in on 4 machines w/4 different video cards). They shipped it back with a paper saying the monitor was repaired. I returned the monitor to the customer and it exhibited the same symptoms (aka, not repaired). Could there have been a bad batch in July 2006? When I plug a new Acer AL1716 monitor into the same computers, I have no problems at all.

Acer al1714

The problem may not be the monitor. Acer AL1714 is known for its weak power supply unit. Unplug power supply from monitor. If the green light on monitor comes on but goes out quickly, the power supply is the culprit!
