Yes, your DVD burner is compatible, to ensure that the driver works without any problems, download the driver from here, or from your manufacturer's website if you have a pre-built PC. (Either should work)
Hello
Sounds like you need a driver or some burning software. If you know the manufacturer of your dvd go to there website and download and install the drivers for your model.
Also nero has free burning software that should also fix this problem.
Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 all have built-in support for reading/writing files from CD/DVD units -- there is no need for "driver" software.
If you want FREE software to simplify the process of writing CD/DVD disks, access http://www.MajorGeeks.com and search for "AShampoo Burning 6". Download this FREE software, and install it.
Here's an easy way to download and install / update your HP DVD writer drivers:
Use this driver scanning tool, which scans your computer for the needed drivers. It has an option to automatically retrieve the drivers for you.
You can download this free driver scanning tool from here: http://xpdrivers.com/index.cfm or directly from this link: http://xpdrivers.com/download/download.cfm (copy/paste the link into your browser, if you can't click it).
After you have downloaded the above file, double-click on it and follow the simple steps to install it. Then, when it asks if you want to run it, just answer yes. This is easier than manually searching, downloading and installing the drivers.
For Windows XP Driver Files and How-to Resources, visit http://xpdrivers.com
At your PC menu, left click Setting, Control Panel, and Add Hardware Wizard and get it open to find out if your DVD writer is installed and working properly. Otherwise, follow the instruction to get it installed. Thereafter, reinstall the software driver for the DVD writer. Otherwise, get your software driver download at the Internet, and install it in your PC. Just type at the Search engine blank( Download for software driver Brand and Model of your DVDR,) and choose the software driver applicable. Then, go back to your PC menu, click open your download and have it installed.
Sounds as if drivers not installed. Use the software that came with the DVD writer. If this is not possible go to the manufactures site and download the updated drivers. Hope this helps.
