I have vist home premium. I have used Microsoft mail successfully, then for no reson found that I could not send emails.
I get the following error message:
An unknown error has occurred. Subject '', Account: 'pop.ntlworld.com', Server: 'smtp.ntlworld.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '421 aamtaout02-winn.ispmail.ntl.com connection refused from [86.27.211.105]', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 421, Error Number: 0x800CCC67
Any idea whats going on please?
Thanks fixathing. This link gives pretty close to the error message I get. It seems to refer mainly to vpop3 which I think may be a different product and I'm not sure if they have the same meaning but the message actually says the connection is refused.
However, I now have two computers which behave the same way. They share the cable modem via a router, but are otherwise independent. My ISP is adamant that their servers are OK and it is Vista problem - which they don't support! This is vanishingly improbable, but they claim because I can send emails via webmail, that it cannot be their fault.
Meanwhile their smtp server refuses my emails!

sending emails via webmail has nothing to do with their smtp port blocking. they have to put you domain 'smtp.ntlworld.com' in their whitelist for you to send through their network. It looks like they don't want to be transparent with you either....I hear this story again and again...goodluck!sending emails via webmail has nothing to do with their smtp port blocking. they have to put you domain 'smtp.ntlworld.com' in their whitelist for you to send through their network.
