Loud Bang and Projector no londger works

I turned on the power on to theProjector and there was a very loud bang and now the projector is no longer accepting power. no standby light. I checked the plug that fine, so i think something has blown in the unit. The bulb looks ok. I didn't get as far as trying to power up the bulb before it blew.

I'm wondering whether it would be cheaper to get it repaired or just to buy a new unit

If the internal fuse has blown, if you connect the power lead loosely and move it about, you should not be able to hear any crackling sound of electricity. If you do then it is more likely something else other that the internal fuse. Generally, a loud bang is either the fuse or lamp.

I works on this product for 3M here in Puerto Rico and i see this problem often.Probably you have the fuse blown but you have to find why the fuse blew because if you replace the fuse and it hapen again then you have a power supply problem.Just replace the fuse and see what hapen. You can probably get the whole power supply assy.calling 3M or on ebay shiper.
Good luck and fill free to contact me for aditional help.

Hi there

Theloud bang you heard was probably just a fuse that blew and the fuse will probably cost you in the order of 50 cents.

This can be found at any TV repair shop or hardware shop and is located on the Main Powersupply Board ( the one that takes in the AC socket )

Before opening up the whole Projector to replace the fuse , just double check and take out the lamp and check for any damage. If you heard a bang the lamp would be shattered.

Benq w1000 project not turning on

Look at the manual page 34, for the indicator messages. I suspect it's the same problem I have (which I haven't had formally diagnosed yet!), which I believe is a defective fan. My projector had been making a really loud noise on startup, which varied in length and volume. Recently the projector has taken to turning itself off after being on for about a minute, and the power light flashes green, with the temp and lamp lights flashing red.

your power supply blew. hopefully that was all that blew. there must have been a rogue piece of metal or a screw that bridged the main power causing it to short. open it up and survey the damage. chances are it was only the power supply. good luck.

Projector turns off after 5 seconds

You have a classic temp sensor problem. Its a fail safe on theprojector, basically a fuse that bridges the main power cables. Lookslike a little pot, With a white ceramic head.
Now what it does, Is the white ceramic head rises as the unit getshotter, and thus breaks the power circut. All you need to do is, openup the unit, locate the sensor (its mounted next to the lamp on yourprojector) And push the little white head back down, thus closing thecircut, and restoring power supply.
Here is the full repair schematic to guide you. :)

My NEC MT1050 projector won't stay on. When I try to turn on the projector, it goes on for a few seconds then turns off. Then the red status light blinks. It seems to be in a sequence where it blinks 3...

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there is a ray of hope: if there is a 110-220 v switch on back near power cord, make sure it is set right (110 in USA). Otherwise, the 3 cycle sequence indicates a bad power unit, requiring service. I would get a service shop to give you a quote and then decide whether to fix or repair (if it's out of warranty). You get a lot more bang for your buck, plus longer lamp life and brighter image with new models. And with the extra light, you can run the thing in eco mode, thus cooler and prolonging life of entire unit, not just lamp. And it will be quieter, lighter, etc.

Dvd10 optoma projector makes a loud noise

Hi, I'm not sure if it's the same problem I had..
I had it on picture mute, for maybe 15 mins, which may not have been a good idea. While it was muted, it made a sparking sound, and then a very loud grinding noise. When turned off, the lound noise stops, and the fan continues as usual for about a minute. As soon as it's turned back on, the grinding noise is back. But the logo seemed to display ok.

I took it in for repairs, and they said they needed to replace the color wheel to fix the problem.
