I have a fisher & paykel kelvinator 708 top load washing machine. Cold water usually pours in quickly. Now is only trickling in. Have checked the hose connections at each end, taken out the filters in them and cleaned them out (they were clear anyway), have checked the fitting the water comes out of - everything seems clear. Have checked water pressure coming out of the tub tap and it is very strong. Can't figure out what the problem is.

the magnetic switches may be warn. in hard water areas they can block up and stop working. you may need to change them or take them out and stick them in some vinaga and see if it will soffen the hard crust off the inside of them out.
is there any issues with the water filling? does it overfill, does the water not turn off and it begins to wash even while water is still pouring in? or fill very slowly like the water just trickles in? because im pretty sure not 100% with your model ive got no info on it but most F+P stuff has the same fault codes, but an error 49 is an issue with either the cold or hot water valve or both you may be lucky and its a dodgy wire come loose but if not and if you know how get a multimeter and measure the resistance of both valves if they check out all good you will need to replace the motor control module
Take the lid off, just open it & pull it straight up.There should be a little red button that the lid strikes against unless its a different model,in that case it has a magnetic reed switch under the right hand side of the hob.press this red switch instead of closeing lid,see if it fill with no problem.the lid may not be making good contact with switch..if thats not it then it may be the inlet valve..then you can try the hot,if theres no problem with hot then its the cold valve.
