Wait until it's done. Run the program that you've just downloaded. It will install the latest Messenger on your laptop. If you already have a messenger on your laptop, you might need to uninstall it first.
Go to Control Panel
For Windows XP : Double click Add/Remove programs on the Control Panel > then remove Yahoo Messenger.
For Windows Vista and 7 : go to Control Panel > Program and Features > Uninstall Yahoo messenger from there.
Hope this helps!
is an issue that is cropping up more and more. If just a new problem
try exiting Yahoo Messenger and then relaunching it. Even try rebooting
your computer. If both those fail to solve your problem then try the
The first thing to check is to make sure you have scripting enabled in
Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer is integrated into Yahoo Messenger
so things that go wrong with IE can affect Yahoo Messenger. Here is the
yahoo help page about that:http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messeng… 2)
In the Start Menu click on Run. Type, without the quotes, “regsvr32
jscript.dll” and then click OK. Next, repeat the process but this time
type in the Run box “regsvr32 vbscript.dll” and click OK. Please note,
if you are using Windows Vista temporarily disable the User Account
Control (UAC). You can easily turn it back on. On the Control Panel
(Category View) choose User Accounts and Family Safety, next choose User
Accounts, and then click Turn User Account Control on or off.
If the above does not fix your problem and you are using Windows XP,
you can update your Windows Script to version 5.7. In my experience
helping others, this is the step that has helped the most people. Exit
all browser windows and chat programs including Yahoo Messenger before
installing. Here is link from Microsoft to update that: http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/detai… download reginout to clean up ur pc so that it may work for u
I have a Dell XPS M1330 with integrated webcam. Suddenly the webcam cannot be opened by Windows Live Messenger, have tried uninstalling windows messenger and re-installing and didn't work. and a cat keeps caming up
i have a gateway fx gameing laptop!! i was having probs with the cam going dark on me after a bit while using yahoo messenger..it was also freezing up but that i found out was cause yahoo SUCKS **** LOL... i downloaded msn messenger, not msn live, and the cam works fine.. so it is yahoo.. i do know that sometimes my cam will sometimes go darker in resolution if i bend the top down a bit.. its doing that because the cam is thinking that im turning it off by shutting the laptop! does the web cam work with the software it came with? can u turn it on and see urself when NOT using a messenger? if so then it might just not want to work with those 2 messengers which is weird!!!!! MAKE SURE THAT U DO NOT HAVE THE PROGRAM SOFTWARE on that came with the laptop at the same time as trying to use it with the messengers!! see if that works and ill check back with you!
laptops did not come with the high end state of the art web cams! they were made for ease not for exceptional quality!
Try rebooting your computer then do not open any programs except going to http://messenger.yahoo.com/ and downloading new installer and save it to your desktop. Now double click it and run the installer.
If the above does not work or if you are using Windows Vista try using
this link for the full installer (does not rely on yahoo servers).
These full installers come directly from a yahoo server and by pass the
web installer that most use. If on Windows Vista right click the full
installer and choose install as administrator. You might have to
temporarily disable the User Account Control (UAC). You can easily turn
it back on. On the Control Panel (Category View) choose User Accounts
and Family Safety, next choose User Accounts, and then click Turn User
Account Control on or off.
i suggest to uninstall the yahoo messenger and uninstall the web cam driver and then follow this 1. after you uninstall the yahoo messenger and web cam driver. Reinstall first the webcam driver and then the yahoo messenger. this should fix the problem.
when in yahoo messenger go to actions then call setup, this will set your microphone up within messenger and let you use it. You may need to try all three types of microphone on the drop down list in messenger to set yours up correctly.
