My portable danby is stuck on the Drain cycle

I love my danby portable dishwasher but we have had bad luck from the start. When it arrived on christmas 2008, one of the casters was smashed and it was lopsided. We called the business where we purchased it and they ordered a new one, 5 months later, they called to say it was in and ready to exchange however, the front door of the new one had been smashed. So they came and took the front door of the old one with the broken caster, and put it on the new one. Well, we have only had this one for about 3-4 months, and today it stopped working properly. It seems to be stuck in the drain mode. NO matter where we put the settings, it just wants to drain, not allow water in at all. I am so bummed. The one we had with the broken caster worked wonderfully for all that time, we just had to prop it up on wood. Any ideas on how to get it unstuck from the drain cycle? Thanks! Tiffany

I did what you suggested, and there was about a small dixie cup full of water in the bottom. I scooped it out and it ran perfect again! I hope it isnt a leak, I will keep an eye on it. Thanks so much for your help!

Not sure what is meant "bottom front panel" but I have a similar problem. Looked for standing water, removed it, machine seems to work. Mmmmm.... now looking for why this is happening. If it is a "leak" any insite as to what is leaking?

Thanks for your solution, very helpful.

I had water leaking past a seal at the bottom of the drain pan which tripped a cut-off switch for the pump. Fixed the seal and now the dishwasher works like new, and has not leaked in quite a while.

Take bottom front panel off to expose bottom tray and you will probably find it full of water. disconnect from electricity and mop water out and machine should work. if fault reoccurs then you have a leak

Danby portable dishwasher ddw1899wp starts taking in water and then stops working with pre-rinse light blinking. Please help me on this issue. Any answer would be much appreciated.

If the water level sensor does not electrically shut off when the level needed is reached, the pre-rinse cycle will error out thinking that the level has not been reached. That sensor is a float device and probably needs to be replaced...

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors or feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/PUMP MOTOR/DRAIN to work when it is commanded .If this does not happen then the voltage at these points must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage/drive from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

Check how to remove the control panel: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/dishwashers/a/3/1287/how-to-replace-a-hotpoint-dishwasher-fascia-p.html

If the water flows then the flow should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. What is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the motor. The water pressure must be good and the spraying must be seen to be good. If there is low pumping or pressure then the spray arms will not turn around to inject with pressure. If so the pump must be checked for clogging.

Drain pump wont stop

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya
Drain valve Some dishwashers have a valve (or gate) that should open only during draining. If debris lodges in the valve, it can't close properly, so water drains out during the wash cycle. Most dishwashers drain into the garbage disposer. If yours does that, listen for water flowing into the disposer during the wash cycle. If you can hear it then, the drain valve may be clogged. or may
be bad and needs to be replaced.
Also if the cycle timer is going out this may cause the drain to continue so i would havethat checked out as well ok?
Hope this helps
Best regards Mike

I have a problem where my dishwasher starts its cycle, filling with water, then as it starts it immediately drains as the spray arms are moving. Since the water is draining the dishwasher then pauses to...

It sounds like your motor is stuck in the reverse position. It could also be in your timer. I would suggest calling a qualified technician for the one. Just because the parts are pricey and depending on how much a new dishwasher cost. Atleast get a diagnosis so you can know if its worth fixing or buying a new one. If you have anymore questions please feel free to comment me back.

Danby Dishwasher stuck in drain cycle after wrong soap use

There might be water in the overflow sensor. I unloaded the dishwasher and lifted the front so the dishwasher rested on its back. There's a narrow gray tube that runs down from the bottom right of the door. The tube runs into a white piece of plastic with some wires coming out of it. There is a rubber plug that covers a nipple on the plastic. Pull the rubber plug off. Mine was quite tight. Tip the dishwasher back onto its casters to drain the water from the overflow. Check to see if the dishwasher functions normally, then put the rubber plug back on.
