There's usually an f-key you need to enter at the start up of your computer... (ex. f10 or.. check the screen as soon as your computer starts.
or
just check out these instructions on acer's website on how you can do it

Hi there , how do i completly reset my Acer Aspire E380 desktop computer to factory settings again . i have backed up everything i need and i just want to start again completely and wipe it all. any...

Hi.

With that desktop computer being new it should have a hidden recovery partition on the hard drive that allows you to perform a factory restore which will take it to how it was when you took it out the box.

To access the recovery partition on your Acer computer for recovery, follow the steps listed below.

1. Power on the computer
2. At the white ACER BIOS screen, hold the Alt key and press the F10 key simultaneously to start Acer eRecovery.
3. Once eRecovery has loaded, click Restore to Factory Default Settings
4. Click OK to continue
5. From here, the eRecovery process will update all the data on the C: drive and restore a fully functional factory image which should take approximately 10 minutes.
6. Once eRecovery has run, press OK to reboot the computer.

Hope this helps!!!

Regards.

My problem is that my lap top keeps crashing and its really slow when its on and i just want to reset everything delete absolutly everything on the computer and get it back to like it was just bought it...

What you need:
- Have the hidden partition previously unspoiled, at least working. It is usually called "PQSERVICE" without this you cannot use this guide
- os needed: Windows XP(should work with vista to) on a partition C:/ . c:/ also needs to have enough harddisk space to install your particular OS, for vista i suggest at least 10+ gig, xp 5gig+ (to be safe)
- I would think that PTEDIT32 is not supported by 64bit os's but if you find a similar program, please reply
- look through replies to this post for more tips!

[b]Supported by models:
- Aspire 5610 default os: Vista
- Acer 5101 with Win XP home.
- Look through other peoples postings for models supported.

1. Download: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/englis...s/PTEDIT32.zip

2. Launch PTEDIT in WIN XP and change the partition that has a 12 in it's boot to 07. Save and exit. Restart PC

3. Search for mbrwrwin and rtmbr.bin and find them on F: (or at least i did, it is the hidden partition's driveletter. Copy both to c:

4. run cmd(command) and go to c: (use cd)

5. type this: mbrwrwin install rtmbr.bin

6. press enter, and let it do its stuff(this installs the alt+f10 option)

7. restart PC and press alt+f10 at post screen, or if you like me do not know what postscreen is, just press alt+f10 continuously from the first booting you see. If it don't work, make sure d2d recovery is enabled in bios

Factory recovery should begin and work perfectly.

But this proves that you can install a different OS on the computer and still get it back to factorydefault. My warranty says that the warranty gets broken if you install a different OS on the acer computer. But this installs all back to normal.

If you looked for a way to delete the partition, i guess the easiest way is to pop inn a windows XP installation cd and delete it from the XP setup.

My laptop is aspire 4315...b4 my partition in laptop is 2 w/c is drive c and d.now i change my internal hardisk,my partition is only one..my question is how to make a 2 partition just like mine b4?dri

New/ Fresh harddisk only has 1 partition. If you wish to make another partition from installed hdd, you may need partition manager software to do the task. Lots of partition manager on the web. Just google a free one. Try also Easeus partition manager. is a free software for partitioning. Resizing an hdd is simply using partition managers. You can do drive letter changing, format and volume naming.

You can also do resizing during installation of your OS.

Restore Hardrive to Factory Settings, Missing Hidden Partition

Yes Claudia you are right. When you wiped the hard drive you deleted the partition that contained the systen restore (factory restore). You will have to purchase a new copy of Vista. It will not contain all of the other programs that came with your computer originally.
Before you installed Windows 7 it clearly states that you have to back up your system before you install it on your hard drive.
Why didn,t you keeep windows 7, if I may ask? If you made a copy of it (which you had to do when you insatlled it) reinstall it and use it. Microsoft will let you purchase it for $50.00, which is a lot less that what it will cost you to purcase Vista Home Premium.

Acer recovery password not recognised

Download the Ultimate Boot CD from http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/download.html and burn a bootable CD-ROM. Boot the computer with the CD. There is a password recovery function under File System tools, I believe. Run the application. It is a Linux application and will look strange. It will eventually stop and it will ask for the location of Windows installation. It will have been found already, so press enter. The next prompt is also determined, so press enter again. The third prompt is the one that you need. Read the text and it will describe how to clear the admin password. I believe you enter an *. You will then see a prmpt to write the changes. Yes to that and then exit and restart.

It has been a while since I have used this, so I apologize for the scetchy details. I have used it successfully several times. Good luck and let me know how it works out.
