you cannot. you must restore it with the disks that came with it(if any)
if none exist, you will have to buy a version of Windows operating system and install it to the pc. then you will also have to download any hardware drivers, bios, and software updates for THIS computer model from the gateway website online and install them before this pc will work properly. Else you will have to take it to computer shop and ask them to restore it for you which will include the cost of Windows, and the labor to get it running with those drivers i mentioned. Depending how old the pc is, what Windows you need, this will cost at least more than buying a new one, unless you have a friend who will do it free or cheaply. Windows cost from $50-150, the shop may charge up to $150 or more to install everything in order to make it work. Mayber more if hourly. You can buy a used PC online much cheaper or even a new computer for $300-400. Decisions, decisions.
You can download the device drivers from the Compaq/HP WEBsupport/download page. Make sure
you select your model laptop and the Windowsdrivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download thedrivers: - www.compaq.com/country/cpq_support.html
Sir you have to reformat the hard drive and load the windows operating system windows xp,2000, vista or seven. then you need to load the application programs. You might be better off buying a working used computer. Also their are too many bad places to go to on the Internet.
Is this a BIOS password? In other words, are you asked for a password immediately upon turning on the computer? If yes, then it depends on the make/model of the laptop whether you can fix this yourself. In any case, you would need to call Compaq tech support.
Now do you get to your windows login screen or not? if you do press Alt, Ctrl and Delete at the same time and type 'Administrator' as the account and leave the password blank since this is the default password and press enter. If it does not work, contact previous owners or whoever you bought it from to obtain administrator password. Once you get in, you can change your old password to a new one which will solve your problem. It sounds like someone has changed your password on you so contact anyone who would even be a suspect in using your computer and question them as to why you can't login.
did you set the password from the bios settings? if so, reset your bios by opening your pc casing (be sure that its unplugged) locate the bios reset jumper (mostly found near the battery cell in the motherboard) take out the plastic jumper from pins 1 and 2 and set it to pins 2 and 3 and wait for about 10 seconds then put it back to its original settings ( 1 and 2 ). close your casing and start your pc
