Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W70 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Reddish tinged photos

My dsc w70 sony cybershot works fine except that the background is reddish. Even green trees appear red. The authorised service center is not able to fix the problem.

I have the same problem except everything has a purple tinge. It is not the standard purple fringing. It never had any problem during the first year of use. Now, more than 40% of pictures (no matter if they are taken in dark, light, etc). have not only purple around the edges but all white areas are purple. I have tried a factory reset and different modes but have not been able to correct this.

I actually just picked up a CCD on E-bay yesterday and am going to give it a shot. Not much to lose at this point. Will post if it goes successfully.

It might be a possible CCD defect , as usually the symptoms are odd colours in a photo hence your red tinge in your photos. Its quite expensive as it labour intensive to fix .Rather just buy another camera or you can try to solder another ccd from anotehr camera > look on ebay for parts (not recommended precise alignment needed).

How do i take action photos

To get an action photo without every thing coming out blurred.

1) Set your ISO setting to maximum (Lets in more light)
2) Steady yourself against a building or tree of even use a monopod or tripod.

I'd also recommend borrowing a photo skills book from your local library.

If the lens is stuck, you might have to get a new camera. Or you can take it to a local repair shop. Or you can look it up online

I have the same problem, but when I remove the MS Pro Duo card (1GB) from the camera it works fine again. The memory card works fine in a pc memory card reader. Is there a problem with the Sony camera built-in card reader?

Plug in your camera to a power adapter and turn it on. Leave it on for a minute then switch to battery power with fresh batteries, this should fix that.

Reddish cast in photos, white objects look pink.

Hello dcmassey, the cause of the problem can be CCD imager. So, the best solution is to claim for Sony recall. If there is some other problem ask for the price estimate. Please contact the nearest Authorized Sony Service. Best regards, Arpi
