It only records sound from your mic. Which means you have to take off earphones and all maybe add a few speakers or something and then click "sound"-->"record sound" -->"16 bit" -->"44100 samples per sec." Hope this helps.

How to detect microphone in laptop

Hi,

I think it would be better if we check that the built-in microphone is working on your machine.

Internal microphone

The internal microphone is located near the top of the notebook LCD display or near the bottom of the LCD display near the hinge. Use the following best practices to better capture sound with the microphone.

-Adjust the notebook PC screen to place the microphone in the best direction for receiving sound.

-Speak directly into the microphone. Avoid speaking away from the microphone.

-When using the internal microphone, choose an environment without background noise.

Testing the record function on the notebook PC

1. Click Start , then Programs , Accessories , Entertainment , and then Sound Recorder .
2. Click Record (the red dot) and speak into the microphone.
3. When you are finished recording, click Stop (the gray rectangle).
4. To play back the recording, click Play (the gray arrow pointing to the right).

If happens that the recording with the microphone have no sound we have check the settings.

Checking microphone settings

1. Click Start , then Programs , Accessories , Entertainment , and then Volume Control .
2. A Volume Control or Master Volume window opens.
3. Click Options , and then Properties .
4. Select Recording , and make sure Microphone is selected.
5. Click OK . The Volume Control window should change to a Recording Gain Control window.
6. Click Options again and then click Advanced Controls . If Advanced Controls is unavailable, then an alternate microphone is not available. Proceed to the next series of steps.
7. Remove the check next to Alternate microphone , click Close , and test the microphone. If there is still no sound, continue to the next step

Ensuring the correct recording device is selected

1. Access sound properties:

-In Windows XP, to access the sound control panel applet, click Start , then Control Panel . Click Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices , and then click Sounds and Audio Devices .

-In Windows 95, 98, and Me, click Start , Settings , and Control Panel . Double-click Sounds and Multimedia , or Multimedia . The Sounds and Multimedia Properties window opens.

2. Click the Audio tab.

3. Under Sound Playback , select the audio device that is installed on the computer (there should be only one).

4. Under Sound Recording , select the audio device that is installed on the computer. It should be the same as the listing under Sound Playback .

5. Click OK .

6. Close the Sound and Multimedia Properties window and test the recording.

Feel free to reply if happens the steps I've told you is not working. Hope it helps.

I have a DELL Studio 1737 running Windows 7, with integrated web cam. i am trying to make videos with web cam and video is perfect but no sound on playback. Dell webcam central is what i am using to make...

Sounds like a software issue, possibly with webam central. There's a free player that has good codecs, and it may help you. Here it is:

This will be an easy fix if it works.

Cant fand my macrophon an my computer

The internal microphone is located near the top of the notebook LCD display or near the bottom of the LCD display near the hinge. Use the following best practices to capture sound more easily.
Follow the steps below to verify that the recording program on the computer works properly.
  1. Click Start , enter sound in the search field and select Sound Recorder from the list.
  2. Click Record and speak into the microphone. Save the file to an easily-accessible location, such as the desktop.
  3. To play back the recorded sound, open the file using Windows Media Player.
To record sound the internal microphone should be the default recording device.
1. Click Start , enter device into the search field, and then select Device Manager from the list.
2. Expand the Sound, video and game controllers list.
3. Right-click the audio driver , select Uninstall from the drop-down menu, and then click OK to confirm that you want to uninstall the audio driver.
4. After the audio driver is uninstalled, click Start , enter backup into the search field, and then select HP Backup and Recovery Manager from the list.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall the audio driver.
The internal microphone is now set as the default recording device.

Dual microphone issue

Technically you can not do this. Most sound cards only support one recording device at a time, especially notebooks. With notebooks usually when you plug in a device it will over ride the build in one.

Now some sound cards give you the option in turn all recording source at the same time so if you laptop would support both mics then you could use this option. The down side is you will be recording from ALL source so you will not want any other sounds going on that you do want in you recording. The steps below will help you check this.

***Note step 4 may not say Analog Mix but if it says mix then most likely you have the option to select all your recording sources.***

1. Click START / PROGRAMS / ACCESSORIES / ENTERTAINMENT / VOLUME CONTROL.
2. Click OPTIONS / PROPERTIES.
3. Select RECORDING beneath ADJUST VOLUME FOR.
4. Insert a check to the left of ANALOG MIX.
5. Click OK.
6. Insert an X beneath ANALOG MIX.
Everything being output via the speakers is now the recording source.

Another option is get a notebook card from Creative Labs as they make sound card. Now if you are doing highend recording you might also look at their highend EMU products as well. I included the links to both there sites.

How way can i install sound recording? via microphone..

Is the problem that you need sound recording software? If so.....If this unit is running windows XP, you can use sound recorder (but you will be limited to 30 seconds of recording time.)
This is available from Start, All Programs, accessories, entertainment, sound recorder. If this option does not exist, you can install it from Start, control panel, add/remove programs, add/remove windows components.
The latter option will ask you for your original windows CD.
The other option is to get a 3rd party sound recording piece of software.
One that I personally use is at the following address: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/

Best of luck!

Acer Aspire internal mic won't work.

You need to check the record settings and make sure the mic is not muted or turned down to low. Click START, CONTROL PANEL, then SOUND icon. Click the AUDIO tab up top. Make sure that your sound card is selected in the drop down menu under Sound Recording. Now click VOLUME tab. A new window will open up. Click OPTIONS then PROPERTIES. Make sure you have a check by the MIC and click OK. In the Recording Control window, turn the level up for Microphone and make sure it is not muted. Let me know what happens.
