This is how you do it...
ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/travelmate_2200/manual/tm22_27-uk.pdf

read up first and find out what memory you need. remember that once you buy memory you can't return it if it turns out to be wrong one...

Hi, please, answer following questions I have referring to an ACER TravelMate 333T notebook: 1. Where is the 2nd RAM socket located? 2. Where is the C-MOS battery placed? Thank you!

The most likley place for the second ram socket, as with most laptops, is under the keyboard. You can confirm this by going to acers website and downloading the technical manul for this laptop. The CMOS battery would be underneath the board, so replacing it would me completley disassembling the enitire laptop.

I have an acer travelmate 660 can i upgrade things like the ram and memory to play the latest games like the sims 2 or 3

Probably not. The ram and memory are the same thing, and it never hurts to get more. However, the key to running the latest games is determined primarily by the cpu speed, and a dedicated game card, which processes more video and sound information, and accelerates the video. As they say, you pay to play, and upgrading is the way, but the latest games require the higher end machines.

How do i get access to the RAM slots on an Acer Travelmate 420???

The memory is located under a small cover plate on the bottom of the unit. Remove the battery, and then take out the two screws of this cover plate, you will find your Ram located under this plate. Here is the user manual for your model notebook:

Acer Travelmate 270 Memory Upgrade

Acer TravelMate 270 upgrades:

The official upgrade slot is located on the bottom of the laptop and is easy to find. Just unscrew the small cover and there it is.

The other slot requires you to unscrew the two screen bracket screws. Once you have done this, between ESC and F1, F4 and F5 and F12 and PrtSc there are small plastic rings. Put a biro nib into these and pull down. They will pop down. You can now remove the plastic cover.
Unscrew the two screws marked "L9" on the bottom of the laptop which are located at the top of the memory cover. Now you can remove the keyboard. Underneath the keyboard is the second RAM slot. The SiS 650 chipset supports a max of 1GB per memory slot and since this laptop has two slots that means 2GB of RAM. I've used Kingston DDR400 PC 3200 SODIMMS.

You can also upgrade the CPU - the fastest CPU available is the Pentium-M 2.6GHz. Nothing faster will work - trust me on this. It must be a Pentium 4 Northwood architecture CPU with a 400MHz FSB. Standard P4 Northwood CPUs with the metal shim won't fit - unless you know a way of removing the shim without destroying the CPU. Best to stick with a Pentium mobile (Pentium 4 M) chip. Look on Ebay for these.

Of course the hard disk can also be upgraded - a 200GB 7200RPM 2.5" drive works a treat. Non SATA of course.

You can add wireless and USB 2.0 using PCMCIA carbus cards. I use a StarTech 54mbps wireless card with the RAlink chipset and a NEC USB 2.0 card with 4 USB ports. Both cards fit in at the same time.

The laptop absolutely flies with these upgrades.

Hi. I have a TravelMate 5620 which has a sticker on it saying 5625WSMi. It had 1Gb memory. I've purchased 2 x 2Gb RAM as found on internet it can handle up to 4Gb. I replaced the 1Gb RAM with one of...

Sometimes, one memory slot can be on the opposite side of the motherboard, under the keyboard. Try removing the keyboard and look under there. If that doesn't help, let me know and I'll look it up in the service manual.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.

Acer Travelmate 2200 keyboard removal

open the small horizontal panel above your keyboard with a small screwdriver (you should do it gently) > open the screw below that panel > open your keyboard (be careful not to pull your keyboard too hard because there is cables underneath your keyboard) > from there, your memory slot should accessible.

LAPTOP WONT BOOT UP, KEEPS BEEPING(ALARM)ACER TRAVELMATE 2200/2700

If the beeping is constant, one second beep followed by half a second pause and another one second beep, it's saying that the RAM installed isn't recognized at all. A signal like that is saying that there is no memory at all. Open the memory compartment, gently release the memory, lift it out and put it back in again making sure that it's firmly seated. If it still gives that problem, try a single stick, it may or may not work with one stick, and if it does at least you know which stick is faulty.

If it only has one stick, you will need to replace it if re-seating it doesn't solve the problem

The memory module is on the base of the laptop. It is the centre with the hard disk to its left and should be marked RAM at the side of it.
