Same problem... Scanned a document just fine. Scanned a second one immediately after and the scanner light suddenly went out and it won't scan. From the service manual, I determined that the entire scan unit will probably need to be replaced (part #QK1-2222). Contacted Canon who asked about the connection to the computer as being the cause (um, no... duh!!) even though it has the same problem when using it as a stand-alone to copy something. Still trying to find the part at a reasonable price and hopefully it will work.

OK... I managed to get a MP830 service manual from eBay and took the thing apart down to the scan unit. I figured if I had to replace the whole unit, I might as well open it up, anyway, and see what's inside. I discovered that the CCFL lamp had gone bad. I found a replacement online for about $25, which included replacement wires and silicone caps. I replaced the lamp and it now appears to work, except the lamp doesn't light until the scanner reaches the end of its pass (far right, last 1-2 inches of travel). Then the light goes out and the mechanism returns to the left. It seems the lamp timing is off, which seems to indicate something wrong with the logic board (?). Any ideas? I'm stumped at this point and don't see any logic in paying anything more to fix this thing if a new one would cost me the same.

Sorry I can't offer a solution guys. But I think my lamp must be out (the LCD says ("Scanner not operating correctly", and nothing seems to cause the lamp to operate).

How difficult was it to disassemble & reassemble the MP830 to replace the lamp? Where did you buy the lamp? What is it's Mfr & part #?

    Any info would be appreciated!

Same problem here. Scanned O.K. Then next scan turned out to be a group of dots. After that after the adjusting light, got the error message. From what I can tell the light will not come on. The printer seems to work alright but no scanner. The unit is not that old to be having problems like that. I guess I better start looking for a new printer.

SOURCE: Canon PIXMA MP830 Error Message: Scanner is not operating correctly.

This problem sucks. It sounds like the scanner has actually gone bad. This can be a couple of things. The actual ccd unit inside the scanner, a position sensor, a motor or a wire harness.

The latter two are fairly unlikely, the first two more likely. Most probable is the CCD unit. I don't think Canon sells it as a separate piece, but it comes inside a replacement scanner assembly. These complete scanner units are expensive. You'll have to check with your local Canon shop to see what they cost.

SOURCE: Canon MP830 Error Code 6AOO

The error seems to indicate a failed sheet feed, check the paper path to see for any stuck bits of paper, however I have heard that this can also be caused by a flaky sensor in the paper path.....

apparently the best way to deal with this is to turn it upside down and give it a shake.

hope this helps

SOURCE: Canon PIXMA mp240 All-in-one InkJet Printer. Error code: 2,140,2

I had exactly the same problem (error Code:2,140,2) in Canon PIXMA MP250, and it was solved when I replaced both ink cartridges which were almost empty (almost without ink). I know an scanner problem is not supposed to be in relation with ink or printer problems, but that's the way I've fixed it. Good luck!

Why do I get an error message: Internal error occurred. Scan driver will be closed. Code:5,202,52?

Look at the bottom of the scanner and there should be a lock/unlock slider. Unlock it and see what happens.
If it is already unlocked then the drive/stepper motor or belt is bad.

Error code E000202-001

The error code deals with the scanner unit / scanning lamp. Have you just cleaned the optic's???? Was the problem there before you started to work on it? Dos the scanner lamp turn ON? I the lamp dos not come on, you will need to replace the lamp and the lamp regulator PCB at the same time as a set. Very, very important... They need to be changed as a set. If you have a working parts machine, I would use the parts from the parts copier. Good Luck

Check that the lamp is not burning out, or replace with new lamp. Check the glass area to make sure there isn't a thin plastic sheet on the glass. This should be removed. Let lamp warm up for about 5 minutes before using.
If your problem still persists, it's not your computer, but likely the scanner software inside the scanner itself.

First, make certain that the flatbed scanner lid is securely shut.
Second, unplug the power and USB cables from the rear of the scanner.
Third, deposit the Canon 8400F scanner in the nearest garbage receptacle where it belongs.
Hope this helps.

SC101 indicates and exposure lamp problem. To try and correct, turn OFF the copier and then unplug from the wall. Wait 10 seconds and plug it back into the wall, then turn on the copier. Watch to see if the exposure lamp comes on - lift the document handler if you want. If the exposure lamp is working correctly, the scanner will briefly move to the right and the light will turn on then off after it moves to the left.

Error 201

Which scanner is this? Error (201) usually indicates some sort of power issue...such as the scanner is not getting enough power. If this is a USB powered scanner you may try connecting to different USB ports on the computer.

Kodak I-40 Scanner

8 Face up light check failure is the only code listed, not "88" for this model.

If code 8, the top lamp may well be occasionally flickering. Could be the Lamp or the Inverter (Ballast) check connections to lamp.
