Be careful with these on-line updates, because after restart you'll get a black screen. Try to discover what exactly you have inside, board name, revisions .... Than ask HP what to do?

How to successfully flash your bios

Don't do it. Don't even think about it. 99% of all bios don't need to be flashed or updated. Unless you have a specific problem with your bios and you go into the manufacturer's website and can read about the bios updates and see your problem as one of the ones that the bios update fix, don't update your bios. It's not going to make your computer run any better, it's not going to cure all the problems you have. About half the time it just messes up your computer or can ruin it. A lot of motherboard manufacturers have come up with Windows based programs to flash the bios but if they fail then you have to go back to the old method and they usually require having a floppy disk which most computers don't come with anymore. If you're one of those people that want to play around with your computer and do a little experimenting you're must better off to go format your harddrive, wipe it clean and start all over. Then you can go find all your new driver updates, software updates, find all the files you just deleted off your computer cause you forgot to backup before you formatted it. It's a lot more fun than flashing and updating your bios because your computer will still work when you get done.

Power comes on but no bios screen shows up, no video form motherboard or pci card

I would think that the problem is probably related to heat damage.

Take the number of hours you left the computer on, triple it, and thats how long you should leave the computer off. Than try again if not than you might want to think about updating the BIOS.

Warning a BIOS Update is a Last Resort Think very carefully about that before you decide to proceed.

remove the cmos battery from your motherboard and return it again after 5 seconds, that will restart your BIOS, or you look for the BIOS reset pin on your motherboard just consult your manual as guide.

I have the same problem with my T3120 emachine.

could be a 'gray market' machine! i've run into this before- basically 'your motherboard/bios' doesn't exist- good luck! boot up should show what your bios version is, look for that, rather than your motherboard version!
'my computer'- 'properties'- should have your bios info on it. use that info to find updated 'flash', if it's available.
good luck!

The exact same thing happened when I did a bios update on my acer

sorry to say this but you have to replace your PC's motherboard. flashing the bios is one big mistake that i learned from. also i think that's not covered by the warranty.

I don't think that this will work! I think 512 is the maximum for it. May be it'll just improve speed a little but it's always risky to update BIOS on older PCs. And this 512 sticks will cost you a lot. I think you better think to buy a new PC. Good Luck!

How can i update bios of asrock 775vm800. i have downloaded latest file but can't find flash utility on asrock website. ?

before updating your bios make sure there's a valid reason for it... in other words?
1. have you tried other solutions to the problems you may be having
2. is there something in the updated bios that you currenlty need?
3. is there something actually working poorly on your corrent motherboard or built in controlers, sound, usb devices, network controller etc..

when updating the bios there's a rule of thumb that says "if it's not broken don't fix it".. as it may create real problems you may not be able to revert back.

as per installation.. the package with the bios update is an executable file (???.exe) that may come prepackaged in a compressed file (???.rar)... download the file and then use WINRAR or WINZIP a program to unpack the ???.rar file for you to access you exectable file (???.exe) inside the .rar file.

hope it works and good luck..
make sure to back up your data as who knows what may happen...
also.. make sure your computer is not shutdown while your updating/flashing the bios.. this may mess up the board completely!
