Is this Your first Time using this...Or was this a new problem that just
happened?

  • Unplug the Oven or Shut of the Breaker to that Outlet (220V)
Keep it off for about 5mins then try it again
  • If this is new Model U need to contact the Company that U puchased
it from. (NEW or USED) Retailer
  • If this is a Brand New there may be a chance that it is Wired in correctly
  • If this is a Used Oven and it just started acting up then you may need a
new  "Control Panel Assy. W/Membrane Switch" They are not cheap

Here is a website that has every part for that Oven. You could call and ask them if ther is a
seperate Switch to buy instead of the Entire Control Assy.  That I think is your best bet.

I have a Whirlpool AKZ451 built in oven that is not reaching temperature. The oven element appears to be working, could this problem be the oven temp sensor?

yes, or the oven control itself, make sure also to closely inspect the element itself for any "HOT-SPOTS" where its getting a high resistance area and not passing all the current needed to heat the element

I cannot get the oven to come on after I used the self cleaning.

Things to check- The screw in fuses, they are usually the 30 amp fuses for the oven. Next is the clock assembly, often these clocks will have the words "push for manual" or "turn for manual", this will put the clock back into the normal operating mode rather than the automatic mode. Next, you may have to remove the power and check for any burnt wires. If all checks ok, you will have to test the selector switch and oven control.
Oven temp problems: Temperature is too low possible trouble makers, blown oven fuse, bake element is out, burnt wire, oven probe clips, oven temp control, oven temp sensor.
Temperature is too high in the oven possible trouble makers, oven temp control, oven relay ( if used ), oven probe clips, oven temp sensor, shorted wire.
These oven probe clips often rust off and the oven temp probe hangs down, or touches the oven wall giving false temperature readings to the oven control.

had same problem, had computer checked out by profesisonal. Was ok. But it seems it is the control pad that clean cycle screws up. Try this (thanks to my wife and her experimental prowess). 1. turn oven on to custom broil. 2. push down temp button to 375. 3. press bake button. 4. You should now have up or down temp. We think you have to get past pre heat cycle in order for this to work. But work it does.
