Try deleting the songs this way


Deleting Files,Pictures,Videos,Audio Books, etc. from MP3 Player

Hook up your mp3 player to your computer
Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer"
When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal
Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there.
Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on
"Open" and now your files/songs should be visible.
Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that
you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want,
release, right click and then click on "Delete"
Now your mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want.
Be careful and do not delete files needed to operate your MP3 player.

Connect your Ipod and the device will be detected onthe PC. you can select and delete off all the files that is opened after checking them one by one.
Now Apple nano needs the use of the software ITUNES that is available in the apple ipods nano site. Log on and download , install and run the program.

try using windows media player to navigate thru the file on you mp3 player and delete the ones you dont like on it then use the media player again to sync the new ones onto it

how do i delete songs that i dont want without deleting all the songs

I bought scan disk mp3 but once i have connected it with my laptop to add new songs , i dont know what happen now it is blank all data is lost i can now only listen radio through it songs are not adding into it. as all dta is lost or formated.

to add or delete songs you simply view it as a hard drive then drag and drop the sings you want on the folder marked sansa.  to delete do the same thing in reverse.

You can delete the songs thru the PC.

My Computer>Device Name (m230)>Music Folder.

Just right click and select DELETE on the songs you dont want.

Otherwise i don't see a format option unless the drive shows up in my computer and you can format it there (right click). It basically suggests that you have to use one of the manual methods on the pod or computer to delete songs. Have fun!
