The heater hose has sprung a leak where the hose enters the water pump. The hose appears to be rubber except for a short six inch metal section between the end of the hose and the water pump. Is this metal section part of the hose assembly or part of the water pump? Can I replace just the heater hose to stop the leaking or will I need to replace the water pump?

Check the two hoses going to the heater core.
They will be in the engine compartment on the passenger side fire wall.
Touch both hoses. There should be only about 15 deg. difference between the two of them
If one is hot and the other is cool then the heater core has failed and needs to be replaced.
Hope this helps give feedback thank you FixYa.
On engines except 4.7L, remove the four water pump pulley bolts and remove the pulley.
Remove the heater hose pipe mounting bolt, if fitted.
On engines except 4.7L, loosen the bypass hose clamp at the water pump.
Remove the seven water pump mounting bolts and, on the 4.7L, one nut.

Bolts may be of different lengths. Be sure to note their locations. To install:
Reverse the removal procedure.
The 8.0L engine uses an O-ring to seal. Use a new one and
lubricate it with petroleum jelly before installation of the pump. Also,
use sealant on the threads of the heater hose pipe, position the pipe
as shown before installing the pump and tighten the nut to 12 ft. lbs.
(16 Nm).
On pushrod engines, connect the bypass hose to the pump while installing it.
Tighten the bolts to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm) on pushrod engines, 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm) on the 4.7L engine.
Spin pump to ensure the impeller is not rubbing against the timing chain case.
When installing the heater hose pipe, ensure that the slot in the
pipe bracket is bearing against the mounting bolt. This will hold the
pipe in as far as possible to prevent leaks.
Tighten pulley bolts to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm) on V-6 and V-8, 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm) on the V-10.

it sounds like your haeter core has sprung a leak. you can by-pass it by removing your heater hoses and conecting them together with a splice pipe till you can replace the heater core, but you will need to do so the by pass or heater core replacement soon or your car will start to overheat.
if its still leaking when its not raining check the fluid, if it smells slightly or is coloured it could be radiator coolant, your heater in the car uses the cooling system from your radiator the hoses come into the dash into the heater box, it could simply be the heater box has sprung a leak and is leaking into your car. you would need to take dash apart to get to it. might pay to check levels in radiator aswell, if its happening when its raining only or when water is coming from outside it could be the aircon vents at the bottom of the windshield check to see if there are leaves clogging it up remove and poor water in to check if its done. clogged vents cause overflowing into your system.
well it is 11 years old now so it could well be a rotten rubber water hose or a gasket showing its age,, try putting in some red food coloring in the rad that should stain where the water is leaking out of?
antifreeze will stink even from a pin hole,,,in the heater rad?
well if the heater core is leaking then your coolant is leaking as well, heater cores leak on the inside of your car so your car will get water damage and will smell like antifreeze, so i wouldnt drive it
