Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

I recently removed my lexmark printer from my computer, to use a HP system. My print spooler will not start, and the LexBce server will not start either. I don't have a printer hooked up to my dell. Is there an exe file that I removed along with the computer program? I have checked the service files...tried to start and received the 1068 error. Help

1. Go to Start > Run and type in services.msc then press Enter. 2. In the window that opens find "Print Spooler" on the right 3. Right-click "Print Spooler" and select "Properties". 4. Click on the "Recovery" tab and change all 3 drop-down boxes to "Restart The Service". 5. Make sure the 2 text boxes underneath say "1" in them. 6. Click Ok until you are back at the Services window, close it and you're good to go. 7. Go back into the properties of the "Print Spooler" tab and be sure to click Start to restart the Print Spooler service and it will restart the service immediately.

and try this also,

  1. At the command prompt type lexbces -u and press ENTER. You will receive confirmation that the file has been removed and that you have to delete one other lexbces.exe file manually.
  2. Use the Search option to find the lexbces.exe file and then delete it from C:\Windows\System32

Printer spooler service not running

The spooler is not on your printer it is in the Windows folder on your computer and is used to hold documents whilst preparing to print.
Normally this service is set to start automatically and there are a number of reasons why it may of stopped but try this:
Right click on "Computer" in your Menu and then left click on "Manage".
In the page that appears click "Services and applications" and Click "Services"
Navigate down to "Print Spooler" and double click on that line.
A box should appear showing properties of the Spooler.
It should show
"Startup Type = Automatic"
"Service Status = Running"
If neither of these are true then change the Startup type to Automatic
and click on the "Start Button"
The service will then either start or tell you why it cannot start.

Tip

Printers disappear and Print Spooler service won't start.

Windows XP Service Pack 3 has a bug that can corrupt the Windows Printer Spool Service. First, make sure the spooler problem is not profile specific by logging in as another user, if this is not the case it is the SP3 bug and you will need to log in as an administrator to fix the issue.

Click START, right click, “My Computer”, then click, “Manage”.
Expand, “Service and Applications”, and then click Services. In the details pane, right click LexBce Server, and then click, “Properties”. On the General tab in the Startup type list, click Disabled. Under Service Status, click, “Stop”, and then click, “OK”.

Click START, click run, and open Regedit.
Locate the following keys and edit them as follows.
  • “HKLMSystemCurrentControlSetControlPrintEnviornmentsWindowsNT x86”, export and delete all subfolders in this folder except for “drivers”and “print processors".
  • “HKLMSystemCurrentControlSetControlPrintEnviornmentsWindowsNT x86DriversVersion-3”, export and delete all the printer driver entries inthis folder.
  • "HKLMSystemCurrentControlSetControlPrintMonitors”,export and delete all keys except the following: BJ Language Monitor, LocalPort, PJL Language Monitor, Standard TCP/IP Port,USB Monitor.
  • “HKLMSystemCurrentControlSetServicesSpooler”,right click, “DependOnService” and remove the value “LexBce” from the list.

Click START,click Run, Type “%Windir%system32” and then click, “OK"
. Right click the "spoolv.exe" file and then click, “Rename” Type “oldspool”and then press ENTER. Windows should fix/recreate the file when the print spooler service restarts.

Restart the computer and add each of the printers back.

I have a new HP Printer and I am unable to install the drivers and use it. Please help me

These are just wild guesses:

1. Make sure the driver package is not corrupted, try downloading the latest version again from HP's site.

2. Make sure the server is updated to SP4.

3. Try stopping & starting the Print Spooler service first.

4. Make sure an older version is not installed. If yes, delete the queue(s) & remove the existing driver. Open the Printers folder & click "File / Server Properties / Drivers Tab / select the driver / Remove".

I have a Sony Vaio Desktop PCV-RZ44G. When I click on System Information connectivity, there is no IP, Subnet Mask or DNS Server address, even though it is configured to receive this automatically. ...

The first thing to do in correcting the problem here since all devices are working on your network is to do a power cycle on everything that you have on your network including the modem, router and computer and printers.
To do that power off your modem, router , computers and printers for about 1 minute then after that power ON first the modem then router then computer and the printer and after that check if you can now use the printers again.

Have Lexmark 1300 for 1 year working good on Vista Home, HP desktop. A couple of days back, the printer would print my doc but I could not print anything else after. Checking the printer queue, it shows...

This may sound radical, but remove the printer entirely from your system. The next time it comes up it will load all printer files again. Next try to print a test page and quickly see if it got out of the que, with the test page. Hope it works for you,

When i try to print from my hallmark card studio i get the spooler subapplications error.

When you start you might get the error as: Spooler sub system has encountered a problem and it needs to close.
  1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
  2. Expand Services and Applications, and then click Services.
  3. In the details pane, right-click LexBce Server, and then click Properties.
  4. On the General tab in the Startup type list, click Disabled.
  5. Under Service status, click Stop, and then click OK.
  6. Right-click the Print Spooler service, and then click Start (if it is stopped).
  7. Exit Computer Management
On most of the occasions this would resolve the concern. If in any concern it does not then we need to do aome advance troubleshooting.
Start the computer in safe mode so that you can remove spool files. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured to start multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot menu appears.
  2. Select Safe Mode when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and then press ENTER.
  3. If the Boot menu appears again and you are prompted to select the operating system on the computer, use the arrow keys to select the operating system, and then press ENTER.

Note For more information about how to start your computer in safe mode, click Start, click Help and Support, type safe mode in the Search box, press the ENTER key, and then click the Start Windows in safe mode topic.
Now delete spool printer and driver files loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution'); In safe mode, delete the spool printer and driver files. To do this, start Microsoft Windows Explorer, and then delete all the files and the folders in the following two folders (where C: is the drive where you have Windows XP installed):
  • C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Printers
  • C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\w32x86
99% of concern I have dealt with get resolved with this. The rest 1 % would require registry edit which I would reccomend should only be done by an expert.

Can't reinstall printer- ''print spooler is not working''

If you have the windows disk for it , Save everything important to disks.  Put WIndows  disk into machine and tell it to install. It will find you version and ask if you wish to repair it, Say yes.   If you have Xp pro just "Restore" computer to the date before the problem started. If you have neither one. Save you work and then reinstall everything using your backup disks.

We have the lexmark x1100 series and it will not print or scan. we disconnected the usb cord from both ends, restarted the comp. and reconnected the usb. still nothing. Then we tried to uninstall the...

Go to start>run. Type msconfig. Click on the Services Tab. Look for lexbce server in the list. Check it if it's not started or uncheck it if it is.

Go to control panel>printers and faxes. Double-click the lexmark printer icon and check if there are documents in queue. if there are jobs waiting to be done. right click each and delete them. Wait until they are clear. If it doesnt clear out even after a long time, restart the computer. Try to print afterwards.

If this doesn't work, try adding the printer again. Go to control panel>printers and faxes. Click on 'add a printer' on the left pane. Make sure 'Automatically Detect and Install my Plug and Play Printer' is checked. It should detect the printer is it is connected and turned on. Otherwise, try connecting it to another usb port or to another computer. If possible try using another usb cable or installing a known good printer to the computer to check if the cable or printer is bad.
