Hello,

Their is one of 2 things making that ticking noise

1) the defrost timer has suddendly became very noisy,if equipped with one...if its older it defiently has one,if its not to old it and has a digital display on it has a electronic defrost control board

2) the fan in the freezer has ice built up around it and the fan blade is rubbing on the ice build up

I not being able to hear it would suspect its most likely the defrost timer as opposed to the freezer fan..do ya hear the noise from the freezer section or is it coming from the refrigerator section??

Hi,

If the clicking was coming from the compressor test the compressor bypassing the relay to see if it would run and also measure its voltage. If it ran and the voltage draw was within tolerances the relay would be assumed to be the cause and needs to be replaced.
