LOT OF PEOPLE DO THAT...I'M ALL FOR GREEN---THE ONLY DANGER IS THE PICTURE TUBE AND YOU NEED TO BE CAREFULL-- TAKE THE METAL CHASSIS OUT OF THE TV ,,YOU CAN USE WIRE CUTTERS TO REMOVE THE WIRES ETC...,AFTER THAT ..CAREFULLY LAY THE TV FACE DOWN ON A BLANKET,,REMOVE PROBABLY 4 SCREWS ON EACH CORNER OF THE PICTURE TUBE,,AFTER THAT ,YOU AND A FRIEND CAN LIFT THE TUBE OUT ....TUBES ARE MEANT TO "IMPLODE" NOT EXPLODE....ALWAYS WEAR SAFTY GLASSES AND BE CAREFULL...IF YOU DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE ON THIS ---DON'T DO IT ....TUNICA

No,it is putting to much pressure onto the tv picture screen tube and tv components parts can be saken and come loose very easily as for old soldering connections or broken pcb aparts as more pressure araises.Ship it standing up as into inside on a hard wooding box standing up and tightly secure and fastten by cargo plastic nylon ropes on a shipping palet.

Good Day, pinky91,
Replacing a tube is easy, remove cabinet front and back, to get to top of crt's & cables, unplug all cables to defective tube, yoke, convergence cables, anode, crt socket.
The biggest concern should be installing the new tube. Ater replacing the tube it must aligned, not easy. It takes an experienced Tech about 2 to 2.5 hours to perform this repair.
Good Luck, big IRISH. P.S. I would recommend to have a professional to perform this.
blue tube is very common on this type of tv, His prices are very fair.My concern is the other tubes i usually could tell if the other tubes looked ok. If he says they seem fine. And you like this tv it is worth fixing. Make sure if you do say yes you get a 1 year warr on tube and a warr on labor,
Im not sure if you got price with yoke assy to or just tube. It is very hard to put yoke in tube and have it adjust properly. make sure when you talk to him it
is a new tube and yoke assy , If not dont fix.
I would first try to go into the tv through the front at the bottom behind the speaker grille. It will just pop off but it will seem tough like your gonna break it. Under ther you will find a black wood piece held by a several 1/4" screws. remove that. inside you will see 3 glass tubes extending downward. Each will have a circuit board attached to the bottom. With the TV unplugged remove each of these boards. They will slide downward and be gentle the tubes can be fragile. also the boards may have plastic rings extending upwards around the tubes securing them, if so you may have to loosen that screw to slide the boards off the tubes. After you remove them put them back and see if it is better
