My gateway dx4860 ub33p is making 1 long continuous beep at start up not showing anything

Unplug power cable
Hold down the power button for 10 seconds
then remove power cable from the back of the computer and plug it back in.
try plug it directly to another outlet
that long continuous beep is a power issue
if you originally had it plugged into a power protector or multiplug connect it the outlet directly to get better power.

I have the simpletech 320 gig external hard drive and my computer does not see it

probably not a happy answer but you need to find out how much your processer can use and in what configuration. If you purchased 320 gig and your processor can only see 300, you will only see the other 20 by buying another processer. Not a take back? try to set up partitions.

Hard drive upgrade

Ther could be two reasons, for the same.
1. The hardrive is not working correctly as the mesasge tells you
2. The 320 gb harddrive may not be supported by the sony motherboard.
Would suggest you to call sony support to verify if the system supports 320 gb hdd , cause i was not able to find the same information on there website.

Computer won't start

this is a complicated fix to diagnose over emails but first, the hd had been hit the power outage while accessing the hd can damage it. so I recommend reloading windows fresh if it cannot then you may have damaged the cd rom /dvd drive.
what version of windows are you running?

PC won't boot on customn built machine

Sounds your motherboard is gone, my solution to you is to remove the hard drive, place it on another computer as a secondary drive or slave and go into my computer and you will see your hard drive there as secondary ,, now you can go in to it and save your data to a disk or do a back up onto a cd. please advice.
