Hello 4fiddy,

If you look at the board you will see what I am talking about. A correct solder connection will look shiny a cold solder connection will be dull and or contain cracks in it. As willtab said this may be a loose connection in one of the ribbon cables so check that too. What you are trying to find is a connection that is loose be it connectorized or soldered. Just remember to work with the test unplugged and only restore power after you have finished soldering and finding loose connections.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Is your tv having problems. why do you need to resolder? this set can have bad connections on flyback. this is the big black thing with the red wire coming out. there is been reports of bad connections. on the flat ribbion cable connectors. i have had no problems with these in the shop. the only othe place that ever gave me trouble was the horizontal output tansistor. WARNING. this set can and does hold voltages 340 even with the set unpluged so be careful

I have 2001 jaguar 2 type but keyless remote not work. I buy1 by internet,I take to diller but guy told me not work.you know who sales new remote,

Key less remotes all suffer from the same problem, they are poorly built! 99% of the time they stop working because the solder joints on the circuit board that hold the battery in place get loose. Check your unit have a close look at the solder joints, re-solder any loose ones and put in a new battery, it should start working again. I've fixed so many of them with this problem!

Where to look for poor solder joints

Poor solder joints are seen under a magnifying glass study some solder joint they look like a drop of water frozen in the up position with a wire pin in the middle smooth and shiny. now a bad one will have a crack in the up ward portion of the solder. good luck.

Just removing and re-inserting a circuit board can make it look like you have temporarily fixed something as it disturbs soldered joints but as the board heats up, the fractured joints open back up.

Some factured solder joints cannot be seen unless viewed by at least 5x magnification so you may have to re-solder other connections that you may have temporarily disturbed but missed. You need to make sure you only use lead free solder on this model of TV as mixing Tin/Lead (called 60/40 or 63/37) and lead free causes brittle solder joints that are prone to cracking.

The best way to re-solder a joint is to remove all old solder to ensure you do not have compatability problems. I recommend removing and resoldering at least 3 times if you are soldering with a different solder.

If the fault is not down to solder joints, heating the components when you re-soldered them could have made them work again for a short time, this is especially true with capacitors.

One last thought is that most TV's have a seperate inverter board which could be suffering the same problems. You do not mention if the TV sounds like it is working and just has a blank screen (inverter fault) or if the TV is not working at all (psu fault).

Tv switches input source while watching

Sounds like either a dry joint on the selection board or the remote control is transmitting erratically. Try putting the remote controller out of the room first. If that doesn't fix it, the panel that the sockets are on is the suspect board. Look for poor soldering.

My screen has no red color. I assume the red color gun has gone bad. Is this it? How expensive to fix? Is there a do it yourself cheap fix?

Its most likely a problem with the Red CRT drive board. If the tube were to fail you would have either a red screen with lines, or the set would shut down. Often its as simple as a bad solder joint on the CRT socket on the Drive Board. I would check the board very carefully for signs of bad solder such as dull ( Indicating Cold solder ) or actual cracks in the solder. If all solder looks good I would try replaceing the Drive board.

Have intermittant protect, usually during start-up(until @operating temp.),ocassionally for no aparrent reason.(never clipped) Cold solder joint?

This is a symptom of either a poor solder joint or a heat sensitive transistor. I would look for the poor solder joint first. Look around the driver transistors and the voltage regulators. Those two ares are the most likely to develop bad connections.

You either have poor solder connection around FBT flyback transfomer resolder all the pinns on it and any other poor looking solder joints. or your focus/screen control block maybe going Bad.

The picture just dissapears the tv is still on but no picture ive noticed that if you hit the tv it will come back and have pulled tv apart to check for shorts or semi broken conections and found none

You will have a poor soldered connection somewhere. You will either need to inspect closely the printed circuit board & look for any area that has a bad soldered joint or if you are VERY careful, run the TV on with the back cover off & when the fault shows, gently tap around the board with an isolated non-conductive tool eg the handle of a screwdriver, & if the picture returns when you tap a certain area, inspect this with the TV off for poor connections & then re-solder.
