Re: Eraser ribbon how to istall
Very difficult operation to describe. See if you can get an owners manual. See links on this site. Or if there is a repair shop nearby. Take the machine there, buy a correction tape (call First) and watch how they install it.

Hi Anna Mae, The link below is a youtube video showing how to install the ribbon on a typewriter, There are other videos on the right side of the link showing the same thing with different machines.. I hope this helps......CHEERS.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLnFJHN-068
I just replaced a ribbon in a 3500 IBM wheelrider ribbon with the following product which is supposed to be combatible.
DataProducts Compatible Typewriter Ribbon
Dataproducts Lift Offf Tape Catridge
I had no problem istalling the tapers, forwarded the ribbon as instructed, but when I type no tryping appears on my paper.
well, the correction ribbon is for erasing mistakes, it literally, pulls the ink off the paper, but you have to hit the correction button, the type writer will back up and pull the ink, but you would hear ait and be able to tell the diff. I think maybe you should check 1st that the ink ribbon is the 1 closest to you, and the correction ribbon is behind the ink ribbon- also make sure they are in the correct direction- ink side of the ribbon facing your paper- sticky side of the correction ribbon facing the paper- so its you, the ink ribbon and then the correction ribbon then the paper
There are a few possibilities. If only the tops are printing Press down on the platen to be sure it is fully seated in the side frame. The T/W may be in the overstrike ribbon mode Code period, comma or slash will get you out of that mode.
do you have it past the leader ( the red part)? there is a sticky place just before the actual corr. tape starts. you need to pull this loose before you put the tape on. it should turn counter clock wise. the tape should all be on the round spool, not the spool with the knob. if this info doesn't help - let me know. never seen the corr. tape stick so that you can't turn it by hand.
