Safety lock enabled

How do you get it out of this screen? Can't navigate to new address because there is a "Safety Lock Enabled" which grays out the button for "address" -- making it impossible to input a destination address. Can anybody help?

Yes, I have exact the same problem and tried to go to Preference to disable "Safety Lock". But I couldn't find a way to disable it. I could not enter any new address to Navigate to now.

Hello, I never get an option to disable the safety lock. It is not anywhere in my Safety Preferences. I'm tired of it randomly coming on and it is a real hindrance to the operation of this GPS. Exactly how do we disable it so that it never ever locks again -- when there is no apparent way to do so???

In Tom Tom One 3rd Edition - Go to Change Preferences > Safety Preferences > Uncheck >> Hide most menu options while driving > Done. This should work!

I've had this occur twice. Both times when the GPS had been out of use for a period of time. The problem corrected itself once I traveled about 30 min...giving the unit time to recharge during driving.

My son had this problem until we finally realized he had to stop his vehicle, perhaps even turn the engine off, before entering the address info, etc. If he tries to enter it while the vehicle is moving he will sometimes get the "Safety Lock Enabled" problem. So far this has worked.

Its a nightmare, the same happens to me, turns on at random and no options to turn off. I think it must be a design flaw. There is no option to for "saftey locks" in the menus.

For those of you who don't have the "heart" icon, you can go to "safety preferences" and make sure the first option "show only essential menu options while driving" is not checked. This enables to enter a adress while driving. Otherwise, you need to stop the car so the GPS knows you are NOT moving.

The safety lock is enabled and I am unable to turn this off. I am also unable to navigate to an address or favorites. It is also on the wrong time zone.

The safety lock is active only while the device is moving. When you stop, you can access all buttons again. To switch off the feature,
  • Tap the map display to go to the device main menu
  • Tap "Change Preferences"
  • The TomTom XL device hides many menu options by default. If you can see an icon "Show ALL menu options", tap this one next. It should show as "Show fewer menu options" now.
  • Locate the icon "Safety Preferences" (a red heart on blue background) and tap it. This will allow you to deactivate the safety lock feature.
  • You may want to hide the lesser used menu options again.
In order to set the time properly:
  • Tap the clock button to set the time and to change the way the time is displayed.
  • The easiest way to set the time is by tapping the Sync button. Your ONE XL will then take the time from the GPS information it receives.
  • After using Sync to set the time, you may have to adjust the hours depending on your time zone. Your ONE XL works out your time zone and always keeps the time correct using the GPS information.
  • You can only use Sync if you have GPS reception, so you cannot set the clock in this way when you are indoors.

The following are the steps (for TomTom One):
- You can only change the Safety options when you are not moving/the car is static. - Tap on screen to bring up 'Change preferences' -> Safety preferences -> Uncheck all options but more specifically 'Hide most menu options while driving' .
Hope it helps: let me know of the results.
