Problem with 8 GB Micro Vault Classic USB Flash Drive (vista)

Posted by on

  • John Morrison Sep 25, 2008

    Thanks for your suggestions; however:

    - the flash drive DOES WORK with other computers

    - it IS detected when I put into usb port, the computer says it is working properly, (but it is not); it does not start AUTO PLAY like the other external flash/external drives...

    - I cannot see it in Windows Explorer

    - it does show up in Computer Management under MANAGE, but I cannot access it

    - obviously if it works with other computers, it does not need to be formatted.

I have cleaned and optimized the registry several times...

You did not state the problem.
here, just answer this:
1. does it work with other computers?
2. when you insert it in the usb port, is it detected and "...device...ready to be used..." ???
3. can you see it in Windows Explorer?
4. if not, check if it needs formatting
..ok you're set!

how about the machine that you're hooking up to, does other usb flash drives work as well? You might have some compatibility issues with that device...not sure though unless you have an extra hard disk to do an out-of-the-box-state reinstall on the machine. Then you do a first thing approach :-)

goodluck if you want to try it.

After you've copied all of the files the disk you are ready to go.
Step 4: Set your BIOS to boot from USB
This is where you're on your own since every computer is different. 3. Select Start then Computer
    • Right Click your C: Drive
    • General Tab, Uncheck Index this drive for faster searching
    • On the next dialog box, Choose Include subfolders and files

    1. 3. Add at least a 2GB USB Flash drive to take advantage of Windows Ready Boost
    2. Ready Boost uses a USB flash drive to provide quick access memory for the operating system. The Ready Boost system can greatly improve system speed.
      To set it up:
    3. Plug in a Ready Boost Compatible USB Flash Drive
    • Select Start then Computer
    • Right Click Your USB Drive in My Computer
    • Choose the Ready Boost Tab
    • Click Use this device
    • Choose as much space as you can free up for RAM usage vs. Storage

Hello i bye today usb flash drive 8 gdgn-8 1.1 or 2.0 i need plug in because my compiuter need it i have window vista

Most flash drives are plug-n-play devices. Windows Vista should be able to handle this. Simply plug in your flash drive into an unused USB port. The computer will take less than a minute to recognize your device and assign a drive letter to it. Now it can be used as a removeable drive.

    Hope that helped.
