Question about HP Pavilion a620n (PC028A) PC Desktop

Code Purple Hi Holly--not sure if you remember me or not.  You have fixed my HP computer (under warranty) several times.  The most recent was about 6 months ago when you replaced the mother board.  My computer has been stupid the last few month (monitor indicating no input signal and random freezing).  I tried to call HP and they have been very difficult to deal with. They keep loosing my extended warranty and then tell me they are going to call me back and never do.  So--I decided to start over and reset my computer (i forgot what it is actually called).  So I was able to do that and then when I rebooted it gave me a code purple.  I researched the message boards and from what I can understand code purple has to do with tattooing the mother board.  They also said something about Python and hooking something up to another computer and running some kind of code.  Its all greek to me-- do know what the color purple looks like:)  When you were here last  I remember we chose not to tattoo for some reason--I do not think HP send you the right disks.  Do you have any advise?  What would this thing cost me to have you fix it or what in the blazes should I do with it?  Thanks so much for any help/advise you can offer.  Lisa Borick, Nazareth

I) tatooing: it is for every motherboard you will have unique hard-disk for eg: motherboard23 you will have its hard-disk sata23

what is meant there is unqiue harddisk for every motherboard, so by mistake you got a harddisk which is not suited to your motherboard(no-tatooing)

ii) so what i would suggest is call the customer centre(hp) and produce the code called code-purple to them ask them send unique hard-disk that suits to your motherboard.....

or ask them to bench your computer(where technician from them will come to ur house with a new harddisk  that suits your motherboard or he will take total system to their repair centre and get it done....)

and u cant do anything other than this....such as buying a new hard-disk it is the hp customer centre has to help out and insist them to do it...

surely they will help u with this......

Thanking you

The code purple on my computer

Code purple is because an O.S other than a genuine HP has been installed and as it is HP it would have to be HP as it is designed especially to run HP computers only, For example if you try to install an O.S from a Compaq even though Hp and Compaq have merged it is written for Compaq computers not HP and vice/versa. Re-Install your original HP O.S and this should sort out the code purple error. I hope this helps.

Put your hard drive in a different computer and edit the file:(your system drive letter):\hp\bin\ConfigCheck\cfgchk.bat. Remove the line "python c:\hp\bin\ConfigCheck\run.py" and save. Return your drive here & then your system should boot up O.K

Purple line running down screen

Hi! Try to uninstall and reinstall video driver in dev manager. If it doesnt work then check if it happens in bios if yes then it might be the video card that you need to replace, if video card is built in then you need to replace the motherboard.Try to use a external monitor and check if your seeing the same thing on the ext monitor if yes then its the monitor, if its under warranty your manufacturer will replace it for you.Hope this helps...

Code purple error after system recovery on windows xp how can i fix im a green hand but follow clear instructions very good

There is no way to fix a Code Purple error on an HP computer.

Basically what has happened is that there is a Hard Coded Information "Tattoo" on the motherboard that tells the computer what hardware should be on this machine.  The Hard Code and the hardware do not match.  It is kind of a known fault by HP.

But there is some good news.  No matter long your computer has been out of warranty, this problem IS covered.  The wrong hardware was put into your machine and no matter when this error occurs, HP will support it.

Call HP's tech support and when you speak to a Technical Agent, you let them know you got the Code Purple Error, and they should immediately escalate your call to their Hardware Specialists and set up a service repair where they send you a box and paid shipping label to ship your computer to one of their repair facilities where they will fix it and send it back to you at no cost.  Call 1-800-HP-INVENT.

I used to work for HP tech support and we would see a Code Purple case about once every few months, even on computers 3+ years old.

Code purple error on hp 1410n

"Code Purple" on an Windows XP system: This Worked for me!:

Okay, I have read and read and read, on this site, and on others, trying to fix the "Code Purple" problem. Many of the answers ALMOST worked for me; but I, like many others, couldn't get to the H: drive to del the key file. At the C:\ prompt, I couldn't CD to H:\. So what I did was to give the DEL command from the C:\ prompt. See below for the 2 detailed procedures. The first is for those who have the Recovery Disk Set, the other is for those without the set. Good Luck!

Procedures for recovery from "Code Purple" on a Windows XP system:

Procedure to recover from "Code Purple" WITH a Recovery Disk Set:

1. Load the first system recovery disk into the CD-ROM drive
2. Press R for the recover console
3. Press Alt + D to bring up the command prompt*
4. at the C:\minint\system32> prompt, type "del h:\hp\bin\configcheck" (without the quotation marks) and press Enter
5. At the "Are you sure?" prompt, type "y" (without the quotation marks) and press enter
6. At the prompt, type "exit" (without the quotation marks) and press Enter
7. Press Alt + Q
8. Press Q to quit the Recovery Window (The PC will automatically begin to boot. You should now be free of the Vastly Evil Code Purple.)

*I have found that there is no need to Select "Advanced Options" prior to pressing Alt + D.

Procedure to recover from "Code Purple" WITHOUT a Recovery Disk Set:

If the Recovery Partition on your hard drive is intact, this should work:

1. Turn on PC and repeatedly press F10 (pause for a second between key presses) until the Recovery Screen comes up
7. Press Alt + Q (The PC will automatically begin to boot. You should now be free of the Vastly Evil Code Purple.)
