Yes there is but you need a schematic.

sometimes you can find it pasted at the back wall of the unit.

trace the evaporator fan and pick which wire from the pc board it is connected and use your multi meter to test for voltage. be careful in handling ac voltages.

in some models, evaporator fans usually comes on as you plug it and then comes off after 20 seconds and wait for the evaporator to cools before running normally again.

another thing to consider is that the evaporator fan cuts off when you open the door. the door switch turns it off when you open either door.

tnx for using fixya,

Rangemaster sxs cream . Why is my fridge and freezer the same temp ???? If anybody could give me an answer or solution.

Jason,
MOST refrigerators get there cold from the freezer side and circulate it via a fan that's also normally inside the freezer. There are three motors normally in a refrigeration system. The inside Evaporator fan motor that circulates air across the evaporator coil inside the box, the Condenser fan motor near the compressor that cools the freon after compression, and the compressor itself. If you open the doors (and sometimes you may have to hold in the door switches) do you hear a fan running? If not you could have a couple things going on: 1. The fan(s) has failed. 2. The freezer Evap coil may of iced over and the fan too is frozen stopped. 3. Your condensing unit:(compressor, condenser fan, condenser coils) has a problem.
It is important to know if the compressor itself is running. If there is a loose connection to the compressor via the start/over load relay (normally attaches directly onto the compressor), or if the start/over load otself is bad the compressor will not run. Best way to tell is via gauges but I doubt your frig has ports. Check to see if your compressor is really hot. Could be bad start/over load relay or bad compressor. Try unplugging your frig for say 30 min then, with your hand on top of a cool compressor, plug the frig back in and see if compressor smoothly vibrates for at least 5 min without becoming very hot or shutting off even though fan continues to run. The fact your fan is running TYPICALLY means the thermostat is calling for lower temps and the fan/compressor kick in together.

Freezer works good outside of is ery hot

Make sure the condenser fan underneath near the compressor is running when the compressor is. OR If the evaporator coils are icing up because of defrost failure it will stop the circulation of air and cause this and cooling problems. The coils are behind the rear cover inside the freezer.

Model number ARB2217CW Amana Refrigerator Bottom Freezer. The freezer is working fine but the fridge has stopped cooling. No strange noises, no frost, no water leaking--just not cooling at all.

I would check the circulating fan. This problem is very hard to diagnose because the fan spins but not fast enough to circulate the chilled air thru the freezer and the frig.

Fan underneath frig is running but no cold air is coming into the frig or freezer

The fan that is under the frig is the condensor fan(the fan the cools the condenser coils and the compressor. It does not have a direct effect on the chilled air circulation inside of the frig. The evaporator fan is the unit that circulates the chilled air thru your freezer and frig. I am not sure what make model unit you have, but I have found that this fan motor is 90% of the circulation problems i have seen.

Refrigerator Compressor does not start

Is your freezer below your frig, like a drawer. If so does it still freeze the food. if this fact is true, then listen with the freezer drawer open to hear if the freezer fan is running. If it is running and your freezer is working then it could possibly be that fan that is the problem. This fan circulates the chilled air from the evaporator coil thru the freezer and the refrigerator. This problem is very hard to diagnose as the fan still spins but not fast enough to circulate the chilled air thru the freezer and frig. The minimum cost is around $300.00 if a service company does it. But if you can do it then you can possibly get the fan motor for around $80.00. This repair is very labor intensive as the access to the electrical connection is at the extreme rear of the freezer compartment.

Refrigerator not cooling below 55 degrees. Freezer works fine. Coils under refrigerator are clean and compressor is running.

Check the defrost timer, it may be out, if the coils in you freezer are all froze over with ice it may stop your fan from circulating the cool air to the frig side, this is cause by the defrost time not working. It will need to be replaced. You will need the model number and to thaw the coils with a heater or to unplug the frig while it thaws. If this is your problem call First
Source and provide with model number and ask for a defrost heater. Replace per instructions.
