More info: I just moved, brought the fridge with me. I plugged it in and thought it went into defrost mode. Then the only thing that got cold after 2 hours was the bottom portion of the freezer. The fan is on but no cold air is blowing out of it.

Refrigerator section stopped cooling, but the freezer section still works.

Hi. There is a valve in the top corner of the frigde that controls the cold Air to flow from the freezer to cool the fridge. This valve called a damper closes when the door is opened. You have to depress the door switch and listen for the fan in the freezer to switch on then feel for cold air to flow into the fridge compartment. The fan could have failed or the damper valve could be stuck closed.

Freezer works but refirgerator is not cold

when you open the freezer door do you hear the fan blowing?if not you have a bad evap fan motor,if the fan is blowing put your hand on the back inside wall of the freezer,if you feel like snow on the back inside wall you have a defrost problem and have to find what part is bad with a meter, bad defrost thermostat, heater or board or timer, send model number next time, ice builds up on the coil and air can't blow into fridge from freezer, could have a bad damper, also if the freezer is on top you could have a blocked drain in the freezer, the air vents freeze up and the fan can't blow air from freezer into fridge because the air ducts are frooze up,all it does is the freezer gets cold, the evaporator fan blows cold air from freezer into fridge section,so either the fan motor is bad,the fan blade is damaged or something is blocking the air like a bad damper or air ducts are frozen up,send the model number and let me know what you find,do you hear the fan,any ice on back freezer wall or anything else you see and i'll try to help you out.

I can not locate the fan that blows to lower part of the refrigerator

In most older reefers, the fan in the back of the freezer does the entire job. It blows cold air through a duct that leads to the ******. If you have no cold air in the ******, but your freezer is still cold...but barely, your fan is shot.

Fridge not getting cold

With a top freezer the cold air comes from the freezer down into the fridge. It uses a fan to blow the air down. It's possible that the fan is burned out. Does the fan come on if you turn the temp. to the fridge to colder? If not, then that may be the problem. The fix is not too easy, but can be done by an experienced do-it-yourselfer.

check the fan from the freezer side if its not running /possible frozen or jammed will cause the refridge side to be warm the fan blows the freezer air into the fridge side to cool their is also a damper or duct control which can build up if no blockage or debris test fan for power if power than test fan it self if not running than repair or replace as necessary

Hi i just replaced my evap fan in my amana mod bbi20tpsw i have 120 v at the motor leads until i hook up the motor then the voltage drops to 9 v

Replace the defrost thermostat , not the motor . The defrost thermostat ( bimetal ) sends power to the fan motor when bimetal is cold ( 35 degrees maybe ) . When first plugged in , the compressor cools the coils until the bimetal clicks on . Then the fan comes on , blowing cold air into the fridge . If the fan came on when first plugged in , it would blow warm air , gradually getting colder . Amana is the only brand using this process of coolant .

Refrigerator not working but freezer is

You have two vents between the freezer and fridge. The one the cold air from the freezer comes through(blown by the fan) and the other vent is a return vent back to the freezer. On a side/side they're at the top and bottom. It sounds like the bottom one may be blocked by food or frosted closed by ice.

NO COLD AIR BLOWING TO REFRIGERATOR

The fan in the freezer blows its air through the COILS in the freezer. If the coils are plugged with frost, there will be no breeze coming into the fresh food compartment. One other thing i have seen on Amana and Sears, is that the fan slips on the motor shaft. Make sure the fan blade is tight on the shaft.

Side by side freezer works fine ice cold.fridge not so good. only at 57 degrees

Listen for the fan motor to run. Open the freezer\ push the door switch with your finger \ listen for the fan that blows the cold air to the fridge. only the freezer side gets cold...fan blows cold to the fridge side. If the defrost timer has broken then ice may be blocking the flow of cold air to the fridge also. Only 2 things to check. Good Luck
