So the computer worked directly to the DSL modem?

Will your computer work hooked directly to your DSL modem? There could be an issue with your Windows network setups. Getting your computer to work directly to the DSL modem is the first check. If that works, hook up directly to the Linksys and see if that works. Powering off all the equipment and powering it back on sometimes helps. Start with the DSL modem, wait a while, power on the linksys and then power up your computer hooked directly to the Linksys. Then if that's all working, you can be confident you have a wireless issue.

Switched from DSL modem to Cable modem. Linksys

If you had your linksys router controlling the DSL connection, it was most likely a PPPoe connection requiring a username and password. Most cable companies have dynamic IP address and do not require a username or password.

Open your internet browser, IE, Firefox etc and go to 192.168.1.1 >
Enter your router username and password, typically admin and admin

In the setup tab, change your connection FROM whatever is listed there and make sure it is Autumatic DHCP Save your settings, and restart the router.

You should be fine.

Cannot get a wireless connetion

Check if your router should be registered to verizon first. Or if ok, manually configure the router, maybe you have to set the DNS settings, and others.

Or inquire to your ISP how.

DSL line disconnects on WRT54GS only

Try to change the LAN IP address of your router to 192.168.2.1 by accessing the router's Setup page. You also need to set your Westell modem to "full-bridge mode". You need to ask assistance from your ISP to bridge the modem. After that, set-up the Linksys router to PPPoE then power cycle it.

Linksys Wireless-G (WRT54GS (EU/LA/UK))

I have had that issue quite often and found that when you are using a router with DSL, the DSL modem and Router IP has a conflict because they are the same number. I suggest looking into a D-Link wireless router for use with DSL.
