I think the defrost timer has failed, leaving the heating element permanently on. Probably won't start a fire but it needs to be either disconnected or replaced. If you are lucky, it may be located behind the lower grill.   If you have a Johnstone Supply outlet in your area, you can save a good bit of money if they stock them. It appeals to the service trade but will sell to anyone.

Ice in freezer and warm refrigerator Zisb48dyb

Hi,

If I remember correctly, GE had a issue with the drain pan as it would clog or restrict and back up in the freezer and in the air return (hence, water under crispers if refer section). GE has a repair kit for this and they have also changed the drain hose to prevent self restricting as it leaves the freezer. This part is an Icing kit part# WR49x10021, this comes with complete instruction as to what your changing and why. This should solve your drain and water problem, if this is what your issue is. I hope this was helpful.

If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It blows cold air into the fridge side through a damper in the wall between the freezer and fridge. Make sure the damper is open.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

Freezer leaks into refrigerator

The most likely cause for this is the defrost condensate collector tray below the evaporator is frozen over and the back panel in the back of freezer will need to be removed after disconnecting the power. Then defrost the tray and pour warm water with a mixture of Clorox in the drain to make sure the water drains to the pan below the refrigerator that is near the compressor. If you continue to have problems I will send links that may be more helpful for this problem. Sea Breeze

GSS25VGMD refrigerator not cooling evenly

i would observe the back wall for frost or ice accumulation if there is i would check the defrost circuit. the heater would be first, if it is good check the sensor is more than suspect. the defrost sensor is the one on top of the evaporator. If no ice is present open the door and feel the cabinet where the gasket touches on the frame. if it is extremly warm that would indicate that your condenser fan on the bottom at the back of the unit is out, this would also cause the symtoms you are having

My ge profile side by side bottom freezer is hot to the touch

is you condenser fan runnig at all. look in the back ot the unit and if you have a cover plate hten you need to either put your hand close to the opening and feel if there is a draft or if ther is air being blown out that is warm. If not then the condenser fan may be toast.

Top portion of rrefrigerator on refrig side is hot

Check to see if refrigerator door is even with freezer door at top, or is it lower. If lower, the light switch may not be contacted fully. Remove toe plate , bottom front on fridge. Under refrigerator door bottom hinge is a threaded rod. Adjust this to raise door to make level.
