I have the same exact problem. I'd like to fix it myself if anyone knows how.

I have the same problem as described (screen is arched at top and bottom and the and the red green and blue are not synced with each other).

Prior to this, I was getting the green arched lines across my screen for about 1 year. I recently found this site and adjusted the green lines out of my screen. I had a perfect picture for about 2 weeks, then today I started experiencing this problem. I tried adjusting the 3 color screws, but it didn't help. I would like to fix this myself if possible. If anybody can explain the repair and any parts I need to order, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    Richard

Any Ideas...? This just started happening last night. Is it cost effective to get it fixed? Can I do it myself? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the solution. When I checked the part number you suggest, it comes back to a slightly different TV model. Will it work with the KP65WV700?

My wife says she heard a "pop" after she turned on the TV and then the screen showed the convergence problem. Running the convergence utility in the setup screen does not fix it - it returns to the main menu very quickly instead of taking a few seconds as it did before.

Which one is the "D-board"? I'd like to see if I can fix the board component(s) that popped.

I have the same issue... have purchased two IC's STK392-560 and plan to replace them myself... Any advice/thoughts?

I'm Having the same problem. The convergence is off! it shows three pictures (red, blue and green) unconverged. It does not get fixed when I try the auto Flash Focus feature. I also tried adjusting the convergence manually but it didn't help at all. Another problem is the screen is arched at the top and bottom. I've done some research and found out that I have to either replace "board D" or the two IC's on board D that have a heat sync, and The Pico Fuses. Can Anybody Help Me? you can email me at armonds@hotmail.com

I have the same issue with the Bow on the bottom and top. I plan to cal a repair man, becasue I don't like messing with things I don't know. It is good to know the part cost approx. $160.00. I will let you know what the repair cost when it is fixed.

Cheaper to buy a repair kit....

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

I purchased a complete D-Board assembly directly from Sony for $162.00. Swapped it out myself, and now the picture is as good as new. It only took me about a half an hour to replace.

Orig Part# A1300560A "D Board Complete"
New Part# A1300883A

Blue Screen

You have a bad blue picture tube. If you replace it the red and green will be weak and probably go sooner than you think. Everytime I had to replace a tube in a sony projo tv i had to replace all 3 picture tubes at the same time. It's very expensive if you don't have any type of warranty coverage.

White arched lines appearing on dark/black screens.

it sounds like you are seeing the vertical retrace for all three colors together (white). Its possible that all three screen adjustments (red, green, blue) are off, but I suspect a problem with the screen power supply.
there is also a recall on this set
