I love your model, out of all the sets i work on i would say to keep it as long as you can. You have a simple convergence problem and its not to bad of a repair even at the DIY level. The new sets on the market these days brake about every 10months so to keep your 8 year old tv would be a smart choice. If you can solder and use a meter we can fix your set for under $100. If you call a repairman to fix it its going to run you $300-$500 depending on your area. But even at that its less than 1/4 the price of a quality new set. Remember when you buy a new set these days you dont only have to buy the tv you have to buy a stand to put it on or a wall mount (then if you mount it on the wall either you need to know how to do it or you will need to pay someone to do it) then i never would buy a new set without an extended warranty, then you have cableing to buy (most likely your going to hook it up hdmi) and so on. To put a brand new 52" tv in your house that i would reccomend after its all said and done your going to be looking anywhere from $2500-$3500.
