Restoring your Sony VAIO computer to its original factory settings is a great way to remove old programs and files that are buried within your computer that you no longer need, or to get rid of a virus that you just can't seem to shake.
This process will allow you to start anew with your computer, and can potentially save you from simply throwing the computer away because you don't think it can handle the workload anymore and spending money on a new machine.
Unplug any cables connected to your Sony VAIO machine with the exception of the power cord and monitor.
Click "Start" in the lower left corner of your screen.
Click "Control Panel."
Click "Performance and Maintenance."
Scroll down to the bottom of the Performance and Maintenance screen and click "VAIO" recovery wizard. The VAIO Recovery Wizard dialogue box will appear.
Click "Next."
Select "Proceed with System Recovery" and click "Next."
Select "C Drive Recovery" and click "Next."
Click "Next" to confirm that you want to proceed with the C Drive Recovery.
Click "Finish" to restart your Sony VAIO machine and initiate the recovery procedure.
Upon restarting your computer, the Sony VAIO Recovery Wizard will prepare your hard drive for recovery and then restart your computer again.
The necessary files will be copied to your computer and your hard drive will be recovered.
Click "Finish" when a screen appears telling you that your recovery process is complete.
Your computer will restart.
Click "Next" when you arrive at the Windows setup screen.
Follow the on-screen instructions to setup your version of Windows.
When you have finished setting up Windows, click "Finish."
Your computer will restart.
Upon restart, the Sony VAIO Recovery Wizard will install necessary files on your computer.
Your computer will restart automatically when these files are installed and your Sony VAIO will be restored to its original factory settings.
Hope this helps
