Bad capacitors...! Remove rear panel cover from tv. Most require a star screwdriver. Look for bulging caps in power supply board. (3300uf 10v ) caps need to be replaced with 3300uf 16v. Identify the bad caps.... Caps are bad when they are bulged/bulged and raised. A good Cap is flat X top not raised or buldged. I have pics of what bad caps look like on these boards. Email me if you would like to to see them. Caps cost abywhere from 1-2 dollars or you can buy them in lots of 10 or 12 on ebay for around 8 bucks. Caps need to be soldered on. Do it yourself (if confortable) or take it to a tech/pc repair shop in your local area. Do do that unplug all the wire harness from the board and unscrew the boarda nd take to your teck to solder on the new caps.

You can fix this for about 20 bucks if you have someone else solder or 40 cents if you buy the caps on ebay and replace the 2 bad ones yourself. If one is bad and the other is not replace them both.

The caps go bad because they need to be a higher voltage. 10 insn't enough..... 16 is plenty and don't go any higher than that.

Good Luck

Could be the SC or SU board. However while working on one of these I had no V on the 5V distribution from the P. Tracing Pv5 to the D alrarm panel and then on to the SS. I replaced the P nothing replaced the D nothing then replaced the SS and the set fired up.

Could be any one of the boards. I also replaced caps on the PS.

I have a comparable service manual if anyone is interested...

Last night we worked on a TH-50PZ700U with this exact set of symptoms. We swapped out the H and DG boards with a known good unit (mine!), to no avail. Still no power and 12 blinks. Then we swapped the D board and it worked immediately and perfectly.

I cannot tell you if this is the right revision, but here is the board we swapped.

Older-model Toshiba TV shuts off by itself

There is a large sand filled resistor on the main board close to where the power cord attaches that cracks. This will stop power until it cools enough to make the connection then heats up rapidly to open it again. It may be worth the trouble if you're handy with a soldering gun and can get the back off the TV. If not then I'd consider getting a flat screen.

Why does my tv shuts off soon after its turned on?

The Sceptre is a fine TV but is very sensitive to power surges.
If the unit turns off, soon after powering on, it is most likely the power supply.
Try disconnecting the power to the unit for 20 minutes and allow to completely cool down.

Re-connect the power and try the unit.

Hope it works for you

When I turn on my samsung LN40A530P1F it starts scanning thru and never stops...remote doesn't work when I try to shut it down

If it will not shut down with the remote (manual power also?) it is a microprocessor issue--if have not tried it unplug it and or a box if connected and wait--plug them back to allow them to reboot.

The remote can be tested to see if it is good but will not cause the scanning issue etc.

Samsung 55" LED UN55D6003 Intermittently turns off and on...T/S help

DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY REPAIRS, CALL THE FACTORY PHONE NUMBER IN THE OWNERS MANUAL AND FIND OUT WHERE TO HAVE THE TV SERVICED, IF YOU ATTEMPT ANY REPAIRS THEY WILL VOID THE FACTORY WARRANTY. THIS IS CAUSED BY AN ELECTRICAL FAULT INSIDE THE TV, IT SHUTS DOWN AS A SAFETY FEATURE TO AVOID ANY FURTHER DAMAGE.

My plasma turns itself off for about 10 20 mins

It seems that your unit has some sort of Thermal PSU fault, or a problem that is shutting down the Power Supply Unit, PSU. This happens so that no further damage, and possible fire will occur. After it shuts down and the faulty component(s) cool down, it restarts again until it once again goes critical and shuts down again only to repeat the cyle.
You need to take the unit to a reputable service centre/man and ask for a firm "Quote" for the work to be done.

Will not turn off.

It would be wise to have a local electronic tech check the power assembly to see if something is blown. Do you smell anything burnt in the TV?
