Press [HOME] to bring up the main menu. Use the cursor buttons to select Settings (the toolbox icon) and press * in the center of the cursor pad. Select Language (the "A" icon) and press *.

Sony has the roughest firmware known to man for digital cameras. If running Windows XP or Vista you can simply connect the camera to the USB port and let the computer do the rest. Picbrige works the best for it downloads the quickest. Picbrige will be on your cameras list of choices to use for downloading
Please check battery terminals of DSC-S500 camera, hope you will see clogged/ black marks there. Clean terminals with alcohol or some thing and make it shining. Hope problem will resolve.
The folder is created automatically on the memory card, you should be able to browse to it by connecting the camera to your computer and opening up the camera storage through "My Computer" on your desktop.
