    Lincsraver.

Have you configured the Netgear with the relevent credentials for you TalkTalk account?

Can your pcs, see the router?

Are you sure its the TalkTalk modem thats playing up?

I was with Talk Talk and had nothing but problems with them, could never get more than 300Kbp/s and never stay connected for longer than 30 mins or so.

As soon as I moved to a new ISP I have had speeds getting on for 7Mb/s and very rarely loose my connection.

    Regards

Cant connect to the internrt via talktalk modem

Hello,

This could easily be an issue with either your TalkTalk internet connection or your Wii. I did experience issues connecting my Nintendo Wii console at first too, but after getting a new router, it works just fine.

The Nintendo Wii console has never been a very good internet-enabled console anyway, and alot of wireless settings will not be compatible with it.

Make sure that your TalkTalk router is using WEP or WPA-PSK security. You can also try changing the Wireless Channel and MTU Size. make sure the MTU size is set at 1450, the channel can be anything, but only a few should work. You can access these settings easily by just going to Internet Explorer and typing in:
  1. 192.168.1.1 for D-Link and Huawei
  2. 192.168.0.1 for Netgear
  3. 192.168.1.254 for Thompson Speedtouch
If TalkTalk did supply your router, then it should be one of the models mentioned above.

If you have any laptops or phones that use the wireless and it works fine, then it may just be the Wii console. TalkTalk will not support the Wii or any video game console so there's no point in calling them for support.
I work for TalkTalk as a senior technician, so I hope this information helps.
Take Care.

Been given 1 but its virgin but my isp is with talktalk, will it work?

Virgin is a cable provider. They give you a cable modem in to which you can plug the router using a network (RJ45) connection. This router is an ADSL modem router.

In other words, it could NOT have been used on Virgin, but it should work with Talk Talk as it is a standard ADSL connection.

Reset the Router back to factory default and enter your details.

Cannot finish installation (Belkin F5D8633-4 wireless modem router N mimo)

ok, obvious questions first:

Do you have a different modem from TALKTALK? can you connect to the internet through that?

if so, you may not have to set a username and password for the belkin router: just connect the belkin router's internet port to the talktalk modem and let the talktalk modem handle the automatic connection.

do you know what protocol the talktalk ISP uses?  it's probably PPPOE; make certain that your belkin router is set to the correct protocol.  if you just hook it up to the talktalk modem though, you probably won't have to specificy a protocol at all.

Thomsom speedtouch router

set your router to Protocol = PPPOA, VPI = 0, VCI = 38 Encapsulation = VC-MUX , your username is usually your phone number followed by @talktalk.co.uk or @talktalk.net & your password in the password box (these should be on the letter sent by talktalk when you registered.
