When you say "shuts off" does it just stop like someone hit the Stop pad?

Or does it shut down like you unplugged it then plugged it back in?

Does the fan or inside light stay on when the rest of it shuts down?

    Or does everything shut down?

My unit does the same thing - it will often simply power down or power down and display garbage on the control panel within a second or two of starting operation.  I have found in my case this seems related to slight obstruction preventing the exhaust hood from pivoting to the open position at the top of the unit.  Mechanical misalignment of the pivoting fan panel seems to cause a motor overdraw, or something similar, which shuts down the unit.  I've found that I can usually slide the pivoting fan panel a mm or so to the right or left, usually right (oddly), and then the panel will swivel unimpeded and the microwave will work.  As my unit has cabinets above it, I believe that over time there has been sufficient physical contact/impact with the pivoting exhaust panel to slightly deform it, affecting its ability to freely rotate down from the vertical.

Ge pvm2070smss shuts down

It may be a noisy magnetron if the failure occurs in a second or two of hitting "Start" to begin cooking.

See this FixYa solution. even though your model number is different.

Otherwise, if the internal cooling fan is not running when you are cooking, it will shut down after 30-60 seconds or so and stay off until it cools back down.

Microwave JVM 1660wbooi unit runs for two or three seconds and shuts down locks up if i unplug the uni and plug it back in it will reset and try to start again same problem if i repete this 3 or 4 tim

This is almost always due to a defective or loose magnetron causing electrical interference and disruption in the control circuit board.

Details covering some previous models are in their bulletin here. Even if your model is not on the list, the same problem can occur.

If your magnetron was recently replaced, it may have loose mounting nuts or bolts or maybe the wire mesh RF gasket was not installed or got pinched.

this FixYa solution. even if your model number is different.

Service manual jvm 2070 microwave

First of all if you're having problems with the touch screen, display, or keypad on these models, separate parts are not available, and you'd have to order the entire control panel assembly, which runs a few hundred to several hundred dollars, depending on the exact model.

Luckily, problems with the cooktop lights or fan can be remedied by ordering a new smart board or having it repaired.

That said, the closest I have come to a service manual for these is the technical manual here.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

GE MICROWAVE JVM 2070 WILL NOT HEAT

With the symptoms you have, I would most strongly suspect a shorted high voltage rectifier diode or a bad magnetron, or a loose and possibly corroded connection on the magnetron's terminal.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Here are some links you or someone you know can use for test help, but read their safety warnings first:

http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/diode.html
(if it's not shorted or burned, it's probably okay)

http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/mag_test.html
http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/xformer.html

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

If it's within the magnetron portion of the warranty (usually 5-9 years) but out of the original full warranty (usually 1 year), then your manufacturer will cover the part cost, but not the cost to visit you or the labor charge to do the work.

Some manufacturers will send you the magnetron to do it yourself. If nothing else, you can save about $75 by taking it to the shop yourself.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions and find your nearest authorized servicer here.

My ge microwave after running for about 3 to 4 minute it shuts down and will not start up again for 30 minutes model # TH903659B JVM 1650 JVM 1651 what is the problem thanks

If the fan comes on when you put the unit into a cook cycle and all sounds normal otherwise, you most likely have a bad magnetron tube. (Google "GE magnetron failure" and watch how many complaints and articles pop up). The tube overheats and trips the thermal relay causing the unit to shut off until it cools back down and comes on.
Very, very common problem on these models although GE will not admit it.

Ge spacemaker microwave jvm/1650

Mmmm it's so easy,
First disconect the power, take the cover off, moslitly there would be 5 screws and two tab's on the top.
inside on the right hand side the magnetron it's a sylver box measuring about 4 in x 4 in x 5 in. It will have a plasic cover moslitly that would have to be remove first then on the magnetron there is 4 crews and one connector.
It should fall downard after.
If you have a power supply after the secondary , that may also be your problem.

Regards

Bob
