Sony remote control conflict

Sorry if this is duplicate post but I don't think I did it right first time.
I have two Sony TV's in a cabinet one above the other. One is a new Sony 42V4100 LCD and the other is a conventional CRT model about 8 years old. The remote is on the same frequency for both, so when I turn on one, they both go on. The sensors are about 30 inches apart. Any ideas?

Sorry about your rating. I thought this was a "help" site--I didn't realize it was a competition. My purpose in writing is that I wanted to make absolutely sure that there wasn't some 2nd frequency buried in the remote/tv/menu or some other remote "trick" that I was missing. I know I could build/buy a remote extender and put the sensor a few feet away at a different angle but I was hoping for a simpler solution. Also considered a three sided cover over over one TV sensor so the the IR would have to be bounced in via a mirror or even off the ceiling, but I don't have that much free time to experiment. I think my worst case situation now is that if I cover the sensor, I can use a digital converter (which I'll need next year anyhow) of a differnet brand to change channels, although I will have to turn the set on and off manually.

As Sony has same remote frequency for its TVs so option is left to unplug that tv which you don't want to power up or put piece of paper tape on front of remote sensor in tv and make it blind for IR waves.
No way to set both tv on different remote frequencies.

    Hi,

    Thanks for understanding.

Its help site and have sort of competition among experts, that is ranking.

There is nothing hidden in remote tricks like second frequency etc. Sony have option remote-1 and 2 in VHS VCRs only.

    Regards,

Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. The site has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. The site has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Set-up code list to many brand remote controls also is given. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily.

Programming Notes
• If your device does not respond to the remote after trying all codes listed or your brand is not listed in the code list, use the Auto Code Search method to program your remote.
• Sometimes the first code that "works" with your device may operate only a few functions of your device. There may be another code in the code list that performs more functions. Try other codes from the code list for more functionality.
This is a trial and error procedure; and quiet time consuming. You might have to check different codes said for your device.

How do I get my Bravia #KDL-40S4100 remote to "talk" to a Comcast remote?

You might try posting your question on the Comcast help and support forum. Be very specific about what the model number is for your Comcast remote and TV remote. To be specific the remote "Talks" to the TV not the other way around. I personally find it easier to use both remotes because at best the Comcast remote cannot duplicate all the features of your TV remote.

here is the link to the forum. You will need to join and create a password etc. You will find a lot of help at the forum about every Comcast product TV, high speed internet, E-mail, security and so on.

LG LCD TV won't respond to remote controllers

sparrow00, your fix worked for me, and I think I know why. The 1/8" remote input jack on the back of the TV has electrical contacts inside that are probably there to sense the presence of a plug-in remote. When they detect the insertion of this plug they disable the front panel IR (infrared) receiver and the TV only responds to this plugged-in remote and the buttons on the TV itself. After some period of time these contacts get corroded and the circuit is no longer completed between them. The TV now thinks an external remote is plugged in, and it ignores its own front panel IR receiver.

When you plug a 1/8" plug into this remote socket on the back of the TV it wipes away the corrosion. When you remove the plug the internal contacts conduct properly again and the TV responds to its front panel IR receiver. For best results you should plug a 1/8" headphone plug into this remote jack and twist it a few times, then pull it out and repeat several times. Repeat every frew months or whenever the TV acts up.
Thanks for your solution!

Sharp Aquos not always starting up immediately when powering on??

I had the same exact thing happen. I think it's related to a failed firmware update attempt after reading a post on the AVS forum of a guy who also had this problem on this TV. What I did is plug back in the USB drive with the firmware update on it that I had used earlier, and the TV started right up.
