Open your internet browser and type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar. This is the default IP address of the browser.
In the login box that appears type 'admin' (without quotes) in both fields. 'admin' is the default username and password.
Write down the SSID
In the Wireless > Basic Wireless Settings menu you will see the Service Set Identifier or SSID. The SSID differentiates one wireless network from another. It is the 'network name'. Write it down, or copy paste it to a text file. You will need it later. You can first set your own SSID if you like.
In the Linksys WRT54G router you will find the wireless security options under Wireless > Wireless Security. This page allows you to set wireless encryption options. 'WRT54G here you will find you wireless key. this can only be done by a machine connected directly by network wire. make sure you are connected first. wireless is unable to connect unless it is directly connected.
Turn the unit on and open a browser window on your computer. Be sure that you've selected the Name of the router, default is linksys, as the network that your computer is connected to. Browse to the Admin page of the router by typing in its IP address, default is 192.168.1.1. You should see a logon screen. The unit should ship with a default password, which is admin. That is, you leave the username field blank and type the word 'admin' (no quotes) into the password field. (Once you are logged in, you can change the password for logging into the router thru Administration --> Management. You should see a two boxes to verify the new password that you would like to create.) For creating a password for the secure Wireless connection, go to Wireless --> Wireless Security. To set up the Wireless security, tho, I think you'll have to connect with an ethernet cable. You can then walk thru the setup. Use WPA2 as the security, if possible.
Hi, you can change the security key by logging into the router, then going to the Wireless tab and then Wireless Security underneath that. Choose the type of security you want to use -- typically this will be WPA Personal or WPA2 Personal -- and type in the new key you want to use.
Once you've set up your new key, you'll have to update all of your computers that connect wirelessly to the router with the new key.
SETTING UP WIRELESS SECURITY ON YOUR ROUTER--------
1> connect your PC with the WRT54G at port no. 1 through wire and check for the light status of the
router to ensure that it is connected.
2> access the router setup from a web browser (may be using
192.168.1.1, the default address of your router, and admin as the
password.). 3> at the top click on wireless on the BLACK bar at the top.
4> under wireless click on wireless security on the blue bar.
5> select the security mode as WPA-PERSONAL (best encryption and supported by all devices).
6> select WPA ALGORITHUM as TKIP.
7> in WPA Shared Key type: "superman" or any thing else
but it should be at least 8 characters long. and you should remember it
as this will be your wireless password.
8> the Group Renewal key should be 3600.
9> Click on save settings at the bottom.
PERSONALIZING YOUR WIRELESS NETWORK NAME--------
1> Under Wireless, click on Basic wireless settings.
2> MODE: mixed
3> NAME: <WHAT EVER U WANT> CHANGE IT eg NINJA, SPIDER etc
4> Channel: 11
5> SSID BROADCAST: ENABLED
NOW YOUR ROUTER IS CONFIGURED.

If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Click
