Soundsteam 1.800 amp rubicon protection light stays on green light chirps. How do I reset the amp?

disconnect the speaker wires from the amp, and check for power. there is no resetting, other than simply turning the amp off and back on. if it powers up fine without the speaker/sub(s) connected, check your wiring and check the ohms with a meter. if you do not find a problem there(should read within 1ohm of how you wired it) then check for dc voltage coming out of the speaker terminals on the amp. should also check that the amp is getting good power and ground. if wiring and speaker(s) check out okay, then the amp is damaged. if you get dc voltage from the speaker terminals, the output transistors are shorted out and it needs to be repaired by a tech.

My car subwoofers go IN and OUT frequently as of recently. wires APPEAR to be connected. Are they blown?

The cables from the amp to the speakers could be shorting out, the speaker(s) could be shorting or going bad. The impedance of the speakers could be to low for the amplifier. The amp could be overheating because of any of the above. Turn the power off and try disconnecting one speaker, make sure no bare wires are touching. Reapply the power and observe. If it still does it , reconnect the speaker and preform same test to the other channel. The previous test can determine the side that has the problem. If the problem is still present the speakers and cables need to be checked with an ohm meter. If the cables and speakers check out then the amp speaker outputs need to be checked to see if there is any DC voltage present. If DC voltage is present on the outputs then the amp output section needs to be repaired.

I have mtx tc6001 amplifier and they have 55v DC current at the output , so blow speakers. what i can do?

THIS IS CAUSED BY SHORTED OUTPUT TRANSISTORS AND/OR DRIVER TRANSISTORS WITHIN THE AMPLIFIER AND THE PROTECTION CIRCUITS ARE NOT SET UP TO DETECT THIS CONDITION. BECAUSE THIS AMPLIFIER CAN ACTUALLY RECEIVE AN INPUT THAT HAS DC OFFSET WITHIN IT AND ACTUALLY PASS IT THROUGH EACH STAGE, YOU MUST DISCONNECT THE RCA INPUTS AND MEASURE THE DC VOLTAGE AGAIN. IF IT DISAPPEARS, THEN YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE STAGE BEFORE THE AMPLIFIER WHICH IS EITHER THE RADIO OR OTHER DEVICE SUCH AS ANOTHER CROSSOVER, EQ, ETC. IF THE VOLTAGE IS STILL PRESENT, THEN THE AMPLIFIER IS DAMAGED AND IT WILL HAVE TO BE REPAIRED. YOU WILL PROBABLY FIND THAT IT IS IN FACT THE AMPLIFIER. ALSO, THE REASON THIS BLOWS THE SPEAKERS IS THAT THE DC OUTPUT FROM THE SPEAKER OUTPUT TERMINALS IS WORST THAN ANY DISTORTION OR OVER-DRIVING POSSIBLE, AS IT IS THE ENTIRE POWER SUPPLY OF THE AMPLIFIER GOING STRAIGHT TO THE VOICE-COILS WITH 100% DUTY CYCLE, THEREBY HEATING THE VOICE-COILS UP VERY QUICKLY AND WILL LOCK THE WOOFER UP. YOU PROBABLY WILL SMELL THIS CONDITION AS THE VOICE-COILS BURN. LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED FURTHER ASSISTANCE. I AM LISTED IN THE REPAIR SECTION OF THIS SITE UNDER THE ZIP-CODE 70360.......V

What does the offset light mean on sony xplod amp

THIS IS "DC OFFSET". MOST AMPLIFIER PROTECTION CIRCUITS REACT TO THIS CONDITION BY SHUTTING THE AMPLIFIER DOWN. THIS IS A CONDITION, NORMALLY BROUGHT ON BY SHORTED OUTPUT TRANSISTORS, THAT ARE TRYING TO PASS THE POWER SUPPLY DC CURRENT TO THE SPEAKERS, WHICH IN A MATTER OF SECONDS, WOULD BURN THE VOICE-COILS IN THE SPEAKERS. MOST TIMES THIS WOULD BE CHARACTERIZED AS HOOKING THE SPEAKERS UP AND OBSERVING THEM SIMPLY POKING OUT OR IN CONSTANTLY WHICH CREATES MUCH EXCESS HEAT. THIS IS WHY THE AMPLIFIER WILL SHUT DOWN TO PROTECT THE SPEAKERS. YOU CAN TRY TO DISCONNECT THE SPEAKERS AND THE RCA INPUTS THEN POWER THE AMPLIFIER UP. IF THE DC OFFSET LIGHT STILL ILLUMINATES, THEN YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE THIS UNIT REPAIRED. ONCE REPAIRED, BEFORE REINSTALLING IT, MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR SPEAKERS FOR DAMAGED VOICE-COILS, WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN THE PRIMARY CAUSE OF FAILURE. OK. LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED FURTHER ASSISTANCE....V

Sony car stereo

When the amplifier shows an offset fault, it's generally because there is DC voltage present on the speaker terminals. The amp has shut down to protect the speakers.

Dead amp

You have to go through an authorized dealer to get service from JL. Most good repair shops can repair most problems with them.

Before you send it off, confirm that you have good DC voltage at the remote and B+ terminals.

With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red lead alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. If the voltage is below ~11 volts, you need to check the wiring feeding whichever line is too low.

If the voltage remains near or above 12v, disconnect all speaker wires from the speaker terminals of the amp and disconnect signal cables from the amp. If it powers up, the wiring needs to be checked. If it still shuts down, the amp likely has blown output transistors.

Amp protection light comes on when raising volume...

It sounds like you either have too low of an ohm load or the voltage is dropping at the amplifier's power terminal.

If the voltage remains near or above 12v, disconnect one speaker and see if it shuts down. If it doesn't, disconnect that speaker and connect the other speaker. If it only shuts down with both speakers connected and the voltage is staying above 12v, the ohm load is probably too low and you'll need to rewire the speakers.

No sound out

You should be getting a reading from the speaker terminal if you have it wired properly & the stereo is playing.

if you are testing the DC voltage 'ACROSS' the terminals you will not get a reading.

Test the pos terminal as you did the main feed...Black probe on earth terminal, red on the pos speaker terminal.

If you are getting a reading then try a different sub.

continuity test across the terminals of the sub & push on the cone if the buzzer changes on/off as you push on the cone the voice coil may be burnt? pump the cone up & down it may clean it a bit?

Clipping amp

hi first disconnect all spks, then turn on the amp. if amp power lite stays on bright then proceed to connect one speaker or sub to the amp. if the amp lite dims during any spk connections then it may be that the spk is faulty or there is a DC voltage (dc offset) emitting thru that particular channel. also check all spk impedance before reconnecting them to the amp. cheers.
