Question about Computers & Internet

5 Answers

My router Netgear WGR614v5 is correctly installed and was operting properly and in conjunction with my 2nd computer wireless adapter netgear WG111T. Recently I lost all connections and re-installed everything back. Currently my adapter received a strong signal from my router but the mbps is only one and cannot connect to the internet or my printer. Need to know why my adapter is receiving a signal of 100% and the mbps transfer is so weak.

It is the adapter on range?
What was a cause of lost connections? Virus?
Did you switch the adapters?

Hey,

lets start with installing the newest drivers available for the adapter and lets see how that goes, then we can try something else

make sure you first remove the old ones.. todo this

start -> control panel -> add or remove programs. Find the drivers / software from the list, remove. install the new drivers from the webpage.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Netgear wireless adapter wg111t will not work work

It's impossible that the wireless router cannot detect your wireless adapter wg111t.

You try to test another one if still have a problem connecting with your wireless router.
If that router can see another wireless network available then maybe your Netgear wireless adapter have a problem incomplete installation or the wireless device is defective.
I have encounter like this before so maybe it's the same with.
Hope my tip will help you a lot.
Good luck!

Thank you.

You first need to install the driver. You can download it here:
http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/wg111t.asp (it should have came with your adaptor)

You must also have a wireless router available for this to work, or in an area that has WiFi available.

Hey there Kjantzi, I have found the site for Netgear, and as I read it the update is one of the options but the drivers and firmware are there as well. Check here:

Choose the version for your OS on the left, and it gives you detailed instructions, including the update process, if needed. If you still have problems let me know. Good Luck!

WG111T

The solution I have is quite simple. I use Vista premium x64 so someone else can test it on Xp but it should work for both. In Vista the 1.3 version doesnt work so Facid's solution doesnt work for me.

Get the 2.1 setup for Vista and install it.

Go to your NETGEAR folder wherever you installed it to (Program Files x86 for me) and copy the DRIVERS folder to your desktop.

Uninstall the smartwizard and remove everything in the NETGEAR folder.

Plug in your WG111T.

Go to Device Manager and find your WG111T in the list, Right Click and Update Driver.

Browse to the DRIVERS folder on your desktop when it asks where to look for the driver and the WG111T will install. It should popup with a little message when it is completed but you will not be online yet.

I dont know what you would do in Xp x64 system but I believe it has its own wireless manager like Vista and should be quite simalar.

IN VISTA go to the Connect To button in your Start menu, It should be under Computer and Network, it should show your router along with a 5 bar network strength graphic.

For me all I had to do was double click on the network and put in my WEP hex key and it conected.
