Question about Cell Phones

1 Answer

The phone is constantly showing 'searching for service' thereore it kills the battery. A so-called company service outlet said that its mainboard is defective. And because I didn't get an extended warranty it will cost$150 to replace the mainboard. But if it is a defect then shouldn't samsung replace the board?

If its in warranty you can get it replaced as it counts in the parts replacement warranty.but if the warranty period is over it is compulsary to pay and get it repaired.
also check for the small antenna connection in the device which catches the frequency if that is faulty the same problem can occur.and that replacement will be more cheaper and that could also be repaired.so consult some other mechanic for that problem also.

I have cell phone nokia 2220s slide has internet but the server nync is not working is say in the phone that is must call service provider so what is the number phone?

  • Visit Telecodata.us, a website that provides centralized information on telephone numbers, exchanges and companies (see References).
  • Click "Area/Exchange" under the Common Lookup heading.
  • Type the area code and the exchange (first three digits) of the phone number in the search fields and click "Search."
  • Review the search results. If only a single company is listed for the area code and exchange you entered, that company services all numbers for that exchange. The search results will indicate which set of phone numbers belongs to each company if multiple companies are listed. For example, in area code 718, phone numbers that begin with 208-0 are serviced by AT&T Wireless, while numbers that begin with 208-3 belong to Verizon Wireless. Or call the phone company that the purchase from and they will give you the number.

How to Troubleshoot a Cell Phone

Cellular phones don't always function as perfectly as you might wish. This chart offers some solutions for common problems with these devices. If you don't find an answer here, bring your phone to an authorized cell-phone center. Avoid taking apart the phone, because this will void most warranties.

    Instructions

    Technical Difficulties

If the phone doesn't turn on, make sure battery is charged and fully plugged into phone. Remove battery from phone and use rag to brush away dirt that may interfere with connection. Reconnect and try again. If using cigarette-lighter adapter, make sure it's properly plugged in. Make sure charger is properly plugged into outlet and into battery.

When the battery doesn't charge, plug lamp or other electrical device into outlet to verify that outlet works. Borrow friend's charger to see if charger or battery is problem. Replace charger or battery if necessary.

In case the phone gets wet, remove the battery from the phone and allow both to dry thoroughly. If rust or corrosion develops, wipe it off with a stiff brush. If phone still does not work, replace it.

Should the display not be working, try getting it to room temperature, extremely cold or warm conditions may affect display functions.

If the keys don't work, look for a display of a symbol that looks like a lock. the keypad may be locked. The display often tells you how to unlock it. If not, check owner's manual.

    Problems While Talking

During times of bad reception, make sure antenna is up, check to see if the battery is low. If you're indoors, move toward window or go outside to get better reception. Remember that tunnels, basements and elevators interfere with cellphone reception. In case of storm, wait for it to subside. Contact your service provider if you have chronic static; phone may be defective.

If you can't hear the other person, make sure the volume is not turned down entirely.

Check that antenna is up if you get interference from another call. Change locations for better reception or switch to a digital phone.

When you experience many dropped calls, check the battery. It may be low. If you constantly lose calls, consider switching to provider with better coverage and/or to digital phone. Providers that offer digital service combined with analog tend to have better coverage.

    Dialing Issues
    .
If you can't dial out, try again. The network may be full. Change locations to get a better signal. If the display says "No SVC" or "No Service," you are in area with no service. Wait until you enter area with service. Check to see if battery is low. If you are outside the service area, contact customer service (try 611 on cell phone). Some service areas require PIN numbers to protect against fraud.

If you can't receive calls, confirm that neither call forwarding nor automatic voice-mail pickup is activated. Make sure ringer volume is turned up. Confirm that ringer is on (not in silent mode). Change locations for better reception. If display says "No SVC" or "No Service," you are in area with no service. Wait until you enter area with service. Call customer service. You may have restrictions on incoming calls.

If you can't make long-distance calls, call your service provider (try 611 on cell phone). You may be out of calling range and/or may need PIN number to dial long-distance numbers.

When problems occur with your service provider, call customer service to register complaint .

    hope it helped'

No caller ID. TP company says I have service.

    • Did you fully charge your phone? - Make sure you fully charge for 16-24 hours .

    • Is the battery old? - Replace the battery.

    • Is the electrical outlet switch turned on? - If you are using AC (electrical) power, make sure that the unit is connected to a non-switched electrical outlet.

    • Are the connecting wires tight - Unplug the AC power converter from the unit and plug it back in.

    • Do you have Caller ID service with your telephone company - In order to receive Caller ID records, you must subscribe to the standard name and number Caller ID service available through your local telephone company. If the Caller ID works for normal calls but not on Call waiting calls, then you must contact your phone company to get the combined CID/CW service.

    • Caller ID shows up after second ring - Be sure to wait until the second ring before answering. Caller ID signals comes through after the first ring, if caller pick ups phone too soon Caller ID signal will not be transmitted to the handset.

    • Confirm that caller ID is still working on that particular line by checking another phone on the same line - If Caller ID is not coming through contact your phone company provider.

If this does not fix your problem, contact your authorized Service Center.*

    Radio keeps shutting off

When there is no signal around ur blackberry will shut off the radio instead of constantly searching for one which really kills battery power just make sure you arent in a real signal dead area and you should be fine to turn it back on just go to manage connections and click it back on,if this is not the problem then there might be some problem with ur phone.

RADIO KEEPS GOING OFF ON BLACKBERRY PEARL

This is acutaly a feature on the phone when there is no signal around it will shut off the radio instead of constantly searching for one which really kills battery power just make sure you arent in a real signal dead area and you should be fine to turn it back on just go to manage connections and click it back on. Now if this isn't exactly the problem you are having then it could be your phone or your network I would call up your network first though to see if they are having problems in your area.

Blackberry 8800 Kills Battery within 12 hrs. Replaced 2 batts.

there are a lot of little things that drain the battery. i have made adjustments to my phone and the battery lasts me 3-5 days depending on its usage.

    1. turn off the LED coverage indicator(usually blinks green when u have signal, red when u dont)
    2. change your back light timer to 10, 20, or 30 seconds.
    3. do not overcharge the phone, it will lower the capacity level of the battery. only charge it when its low and take it off when its full.
    4. check the reminder notifications from messages/voicemail/txt,etc. set it to one or two.
    5. check to see if you are roaming or searching for service. the constant searching drains the battery.
    6. check to see that u have exited the programs u were using. if u have installed maps, navigation, etc and just back out of the program without exiting the GPS is constantly updating your position.
    Hope this helps.
